Tedds (the Tedds Application)

Tedds (the Tedds Application) is a simple, powerful and completely self-contained application. Furthermore, Tedds does not require knowledge of any other software package.

With Tedds, you can automate repetitive structural and civil calculations, access a library of pre-written, quality-assured, code-compliant calculations, and create professional and consistent documentation.

Tedds for Word

Tedds for Word gives you access to the same extensive library of calculations as Tedds. However, Tedds for Word it is even more powerful: you can include multiple Tedds calculations in the same document along with text, pictures, and output from other applications.

Tedds for Word is entirely integrated with and operates within Microsoft Word. That is why you need to have access to and some knowledge of Microsoft Word to use Tedds for Word.

In Tedds for Word, you can write and format documents according to your needs. You also have all the editing features of Microsoft Word at your disposal to create professional-looking reports.

In addition, Tedds for Word allows you to write your own calculations. You can simply type the variables and formulae within a Word document, and then use Tedds for Word commands to automatically resolve the calculations. When the inevitable design changes occur, modify your calculations and re-calculate the document, and Tedds for Word calculates the new results for you.

Using Tedds for Word you can:

Define and perform your own calculations in any Microsoft Word document quickly and simply.
Access standard calculations by using the Library Access System.
Access component calculations by using the Library Access System.
Include engineering data in your calculations by using data lists, data tables, and data graphs.
Calculate anything from a single calculation to an entire document.
Automatically verify the dimensional accuracy of your calculations by specifying the appropriate units for your variables.
Define multiple calc sections in your document, so that the same variables can have different values within your document.

Tekla Structural Designer LT / Tekla Structural Designer

Tekla Structural Designer is an application for multi-material analysis and building design. The version you have access to will depend on your subscription plan.

If you have a Tekla Tedds subscription you get access to Tekla Structural Designer LT, which handles smaller-scale or simpler structural challenges (like single-span portal frames or floor vibrations).
If you have a Tekla Structural Design Suite subscription Tedds is paired with the full power of Tekla Structural Designer.

How do I view license configurations available to me?

License details can be viewed from the Tekla licenses page of your Tekla Online Profile.

How do I switch between available configurations?

If your organization has licenses for different configurations, you can select between them when you start Tekla Tedds.

Note: If you have deactivated the Select Product License dialog you won’t be able to select between licenses until the dialog is reactivated. This can be done as follows:

Start Tekla Tedds and from the menu select the Tedds Application
On the Help ribbon tab, select License Manager
Select Settings
Select User Settings
Select the product from the list
From the Auto select droplist, select No (always ask me to choose)
1. If you want to prevent the dialog from being deactivated in future, unselect Show “Don’t ask me again” option in the Select Product License dialog.
Select Apply, then OK then Close
Close and then restart Tekla Tedds.

How do I auto select a license?

Start Tekla Tedds and from the menu select the Tedds Application
On the Help ribbon tab, select License Manager
Select Settings
Select User Settings
Select the product from the list.

Select the Auto select option you require:


Choice	Result
Yes (if only one license is available)	The Select Product License dialog is not displayed.
Default (use the default license)	The Select Product License dialog is not displayed. (The default license is the one that you last used.)
No (always as me to choose)	The Select Product License dialog is displayed allowing you to choose the license configuration you require.

How do I deactivate the Select Product License dialog?

Start Tekla Tedds and from the menu select the Tedds Application
On the Help ribbon tab, select License Manager
Select Settings
Select User Settings
Select the product from the list.
From the Auto select droplist, select Default (use the default license)
Select Show “Don’t ask me again” option in the Select Product License dialog.
Select Apply, then OK, then Close
Close and then restart Tekla Tedds.

How do I set the default license type?

The default license is the one that you last used.
