Steel beam torsion design (AISC360)
This new calculation determines the torsional forces on a beam subject to uniformly distributed torque loads and concentrated torque loads. The design of the torsional and normal forces are then checked against a selected steel section. The calculation can be used to check a steel beam subject to torque forces such as beams in a masonry support system, beams loaded eccentrically to the shear center, integral floor slabs or beams subject to eccentric loading during the construction phase.

Checks rolled I sections (W, M, S or HP), channel sections (C or MC), and HSS sections (rectangular, square, round or pipe) subject to major and minor axis moments and shears together with a uniformly distributed torque and concentrated torque loads

The calculation can design to the ASD or LRFD design methods

Torsional graphs are produced for the torsional rotation and the three derivates for a single uniformly distributed torque and any number of concentrated torque loads, showing the individual and total plot lines.

The ends of the beam can be free to warp or fully fixed against warping.

The batch design spreadsheet can be used to check multiple beams
