New and enhanced library calculations (British Design)

The following engineering library calculations has been added or enhanced in Tedds 2025. (Note that some features documented below were included in previous updates to Tedds 2024.)

Crane wind loading assessment (BS ISO 4302)

New calculation that determines the wind load on a crane in accordance with the design method set out in BS ISO 4302:2016.

  • Calculates the in-service design wind load acting on a crane based on the design wind load for the application of the crane. This is for a single member or for multiple frames.

  • Has the option to calculate the out-of-service wind load on a crane.

  • Calculates the wind load on the hoisted load of the crane.


Outrigger loading design (EN1997/TWf)

New calculation that determines the outrigger load and soil bearing capacity to size any required outrigger mats. Outrigger loads are calculated based on the weight of all elements of the plant and the loading together with the corresponding distances from the centre of rotation. Wind loading acting on the crane jib is also taken into account.

  • Determines the maximum outrigger loading for a specific slew angle or a given slew angle range.

  • Typical loading that is taken into account are associated with the hook and lift, jib, crane, vehicle, counterweight and wind loading.

  • Calculates the bearing capacity of the soil on which the plant will be operational.

  • Determines the required bearing area for an outrigger mat and checks against defined mat size.

  • The design is in accordance with EN1997 and the national annexes for the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Malaysia, Finland, Norway, Sweden or the recommended Eurocode values.

Reinforcement schedule (BS8666)

Enhanced to significantly improve the user experience creating and modifying a reinforcement schedule and in accordance with BS8666:2020 - Scheduling, dimensioning, bending and cutting of steel reinforcement for concrete - Specification.

Concrete Specification (BS8500)

Enhanced to calculate in accordance with BS 8500-1:2023 - Concrete - Complementary British Standard to BS EN 206.
