For administrators: Step 4 - Post set-up checks

Modify the license file

  1. Open the tekla.lic license file in a text editor.
  2. Verify that the SERVER and VENDOR rows have been populated with the server details:
    SERVER MYSERVER COMPOSITE=899021312BF7 27007
    VENDOR tekla
  3. If the SERVER and VENDOR rows have not been populated with the server details, enter the details manually.
    1. If you do not know the hostname of the server, run the following command from the command prompt:

      hostname

    2. To find the host ID, run tekla_composite.exe from the command prompt.
    3. Replace YOUR_COMPOSITE_HOSTID with the host ID value returned by tekla_composite.exe.
    4. At the end of the SERVER row, add a free TCP/IP port number for the license server manager.
      1. Remember to add a space between the host ID and the port number.

      2. If the server is behind a firewall, change the VENDOR tekla line to VENDOR tekla PORT=<port number>, where <port number> is a free port for the tekla.exe vendor daemon.

        For example:

        VENDOR tekla PORT=27011
    5. Save any changes and close the file.

Run Diagnostics check in LMTools

Check that Tekla Structures users can use licenses from the on-demand license server.

Running lmstat is not sufficient to verify that users can use on-demand licenses.

  1. To open LMTOOLS, go to the installation folder and double-click the lmtools.exe.
  2. On the Server Diags tab, click Perform Diagnostics.

Verify that the license server and reporting are running properly

  • Check that there are no error messages in tekla_debug.log.
  • Check that the folder defined by the system environment variable TRIMBLE_TS_OD_LOG contains the file tekla-framework-yyyy-mm- dd.log, and that this file does not contain any errors.
