About subscriptions for Tekla Structures

Tekla Structures subscriptions are purchased as a recurring or fixed-term subscription. The subscriptions unlock the Tekla Structures Carbon, Graphite, or Diamond configurations, which progressively enable more product features.

Tekla Structures subscriptions are Named User licenses. Each user must have their own Trimble Identity and Tekla Structures subscription license seat. As an administrator, you can assign license seats to both employees and external license users.

Only the first assignment is allowed. Named User licenses cannot be reassigned except as defined in Change of license type - End of sale of Standard, Flex, and Worldwide licenses.

It is not possible to use Tekla Structures simultaneously on different computers with the same subscription license. Users must sign out and exit Tekla Structures or close Tekla Structures without keeping the subscription license reserved to be able to use the subscription on a different computer.

Tekla Structures subscriptions can be used offline for up to 72 hours. Users can keep the subscription reserved for offline use even when they close Tekla Structures.

Tekla Structures subscriptions might have some limitations due to embargo and export control restrictions. For more information, see Trimble's end-user license agreement for Tekla software products.

About subscriptions for older Tekla Structures versions

Tekla Structures version 2019 and higher directly support subscription licensing.

To use subscription licensing with older versions of Tekla Structures that do not directly support subscription licensing, users must install the Tekla Subscription Tool for Legacy Versions of Tekla Structures. The Tekla Subscription Tool is supported for Tekla Structures versions 2018i and earlier, except for the following versions:

  • 2016 up to SP6/PR6

  • 21.1 up to SR6

Users who use these versions must upgrade to newer service packs.

For more information about the Tekla Subscription Tool, see the Tekla Subscription Tool for Legacy Versions of Tekla Structures guide.

When a subscription is used with a version earlier than Tekla Structures 2021, the subscription activates one of these configurations:

Subscription Configurations
Carbon Project viewer or Production planner
Graphite Rebar detailing or Production planner
Diamond Full

In Tekla Structures 2021 or later, the same license allows you to open multiple instances of Tekla Structures on the same computer. The following earlier versions and service packs also allow you to open multiple instances of Tekla Structures:

  • 2019i SP10 or later

  • 2019 SP12 or later

  • 2020 SP9 or later

With the Tekla Subscription tool, you can also Tekla Structures version 2018i or older together with a newer version of Tekla Structures on the same computer.

Note:

Although permitted by licensing, simultaneously running multiple instances of Tekla Structures on the same computer might cause errors in some features, such as extensions.

About subscriptions for the Tekla Partner configuration

Subscriptions for the Tekla Partner configuration can be used only for purposes of application and BIM content development as part of the Tekla Partners Program. Use for other commercial purposes including, but not limited to, modeling, detailing, or fabrication is explicitly excluded.

Subscriptions for the Tekla Partner configuration are user licenses. Each user must have their own Trimble Identity and Tekla Structures subscription license seat. There are no limits for how many times you can reassign the subscription license seats.

The terms of the Tekla Partner program only allow you to assign Tekla Partner subscription license seats to people who are directly employed by your company. For example, you are not allowed to assign your Tekla Partner subscription license seats to subcontracted resources who are employed by another company. The company that employs the subcontracted resources must enter the Tekla Partners Program separately and assign its own subscription license seats to its employees.

Note: Some existing users might have legacy Tekla Partner configuration licenses that can be assigned to any number of users at the same time. For these users, the number of licenses that you have determines the maximum number of concurrent users.

For more information about the Tekla Partners program, visit the Tekla Developer Center website.
