Create a building section

Building section is represented as a spatial volume in the model. Building section is a representation of a specific portion of a building.

  1. On the Manage tab on the ribbon, click Building hierarchy.
  2. In the Building hierarchy side pane, click the button.
  3. Click the Create building section command.
    1. Pick the first boundary point for the building section in the model.
    2. Pick the second boundary point for the building section.
    3. Pick the next boundary point for the building section.
    4. Click the middle mouse button to create the building section.
    5. To create another building section, pick another point.
    6. To stop creating building sections, press Esc.

Modify building section properties

  1. If the property pane is not open, double-click the building section to open the properties.
  2. Change the properties as needed.
  3. Click Modify.

Building section properties

Use the Building section properties in the property pane to view and modify the properties of building sections in a Building hierarchy.

If you have customized the property pane layout, the list of properties may be different.

Name

User-definable name of a building section

The name can contain a maximum of 61 characters.

Boundary box

Top elevation

Defines the top boundary of the building section

Bottom elevation

Defines the bottom boundary of the building section

IFC export

IFC entity

You can only modify the IFC entity of spaces.

UDAs

Click the User-defined attributes button to open the user-defined attributes (UDAs) of the building section. UDAs provide additional information about the building section.
