Set and share the statuses of model objects using Status Sharing

Use Status Sharing to set, view, and change statuses of your model objects and assemblies and share the statuses between Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, and Tekla PowerFab. Status of an object can be, for example, a manufacturing status or an erection status. The statuses are stored in a Trimble Connect project.

Before adding actions, and setting or viewing the statuses in Tekla Structures:

  • Your Tekla Structures model needs to be linked to a Trimble Connect project. See instructions here: Link a Tekla Structures model to a Trimble Connect project.
  • On the Trimble Connect ribbon tab, click the Status Sharing button to open the Status Sharing side pane window. You can see all the statuses set for the selected model objects in the linked Trimble Connect project, and add actions and statuses.
  • Statuses are shared automatically with other users in the project, if you set them public.

If you are using Status Sharing between Tekla Structures and Tekla PowerFab, you can filter the actions in Tekla Structures so that only actions from Tekla PowerFab are visible.

Add, edit, and delete actions

Create actions for issues that you want to track or share the status for.

  1. Click the three dots to create a new action.
  2. Select Add action.
    1. Enter a name for the action.
    2. Select whether the action is private.

Private actions are visible only to you and others using the same email address domain. If you clear the checkbox, the actions are visible to everyone, but only people with the same email address domain can set or modify those actions.

    3. Using the eye icons, select which status values you want to use in your action.

Note that each status has an assigned name and color and they cannot be changed.

    4. Click Save.

  3. Switch the Colorize statuses in model on to enable the color visualization of model objects or assemblies based on their status.
  4. To edit an action:
    1. Select an action in the list of actions and click the three dots .
    2. Click Edit action, change the action properties, and click Save.
  5. To delete an action:
    1. Select an action in the list of actions and click the three dots .
    2. Click Delete action and OK to confirm the deletion.

Show actions from Tekla PowerFab

If you are using Status Sharing between Tekla Structures and Tekla PowerFab, you can filter the actions in Tekla Structures so that only actions from Tekla PowerFab are visible.

Switch the Show only actions from Tekla PowerFab on to show only the actions from Tekla PowerFab and to filter out other ones.

Set and change statuses

Set the statuses in a selected action.

  1. Select one or more objects in the model.
  2. Go to the Set Status section.
  3. Click one of the statuses available.
  4. Select a date for the status.

The default date is Today, but you can select an earlier date for the status.

    The status information is saved.

Visualize statuses on a timeline

To view all the statuses set on a specific date, use Timeline. The timeline visualizes the progress of the statuses. As you set or change statuses, the date of the change is saved.

  1. Go to the Timeline section.
  2. Set the interval for each step.
  3. Click the Play button, or use the slider, to visualize the statuses in the model from the earliest date a status was set to the present day. Click Pause to pause the timeline from playing.

Dates for the changed statuses are marked with a small triangle on the timeline.

Check the status history

You can check the history of all the statuses set for a selected object. Note that you cannot view the history of multiple objects simultaneously.

You can check the statuses for the current action or for all actions.

  1. Select a model object or an assembly in the model.
  2. Go to the Status History section.

Status History only displays information for a single selected model object or an assembly.

  3. Select either Selected Action or All Actions to see the status history of the selected model object in a selected action or in all actions.

Visualize multiple actions on a timeline

If you have added at least two actions, you can use the Multiple Actions option to visualize multiple actions in the model at the same time. You can select which actions are visualized in the model and define their colorization priority.

When Multiple Actions is used, the synchronization with the server is paused and it resumes when you return back to the main dialog of Status Sharing.

  1. In the list of actions, select Multiple Actions.
  2. Select whether to visualize only the completed actions. Completed actions have the Completed status.
  3. Use the eye icons to select which actions are visualized.
  4. Define the colorization priority. Change the order of actions by dragging them to a suitable order.

The color of the action on the top of the list overrides the actions on lower on the list.

  5. On the timeline, set the interval for each step.
  6. Click the Play button to visualize the statuses in the model from the earliest date a status was set to the present day.

Use user-defined attributes (UDAs)

To be able to use the status values elsewhere in Tekla Structures, such as in reports, filters, drawing marks, and so on, you can save the status values to the model objects as UDAs.

  1. Click the UDAs settings button.

    The UDA settings dialog opens.

  2. Set the UDA names for the current status, current status date, start date and for the end date.

  3. Click OK.

The Sync button appears next to the UDAs settings button.

  4. Click the Sync button to synchronize the UDA information.

After the UDA information is synchronized, the UDA information is visible on the user-defined attributes tab of the selected model object and on the Inquire dialog. The synchronizing is done for all the objects which have statuses.

    Note:

The status values and the UDAs are not kept in sync automatically. Clicking the Sync button synchronizes the status values only at a specific moment in time. When the status values are updated and modified over time, you need to manually update the synchronization. Click the Sync button to synchronize the UDAs as needed.
