Printing Special color hatches in old drawings

In Tekla Structures 2024, when you printed drawings that were created in Tekla Structures versions older than 2024 using Black and white or Tekla Grayscale printing color mode, the Special color used in hatches in the old drawings was printed as black, hiding all the overlapping lines and markings. In previous Tekla Structures versions, a Special color could be defined for hatches using the advanced options XS_HATCH_SPECIAL_COLOR_R, XS_HATCH_SPECIAL_COLOR_G, and XS_HATCH_SPECIAL_COLOR_B. This issue has now been fixed and the Special color is shown correctly in all printing color modes.

A bulletin with a workaround was released for this issue after the problem was found. The problem described in the bulletin has been fully solved with this fix.

TTSD-63147

Add associative notes with applied values

A new command for adding associative notes, With applied values, has been added, and in the Default environment, it is available on the ribbon by default. This command allows you to create associative notes using the value that you have selected for the Leader line setting in the associative note properties. The other three associative note commands do not allow using an applied value for the Leader line setting, they always use the predefined value defined for each command: With leader line, Without leader line, or Along line.

The new Add associative note with applied values command is used by default when you select the Add associative note command from the context menu or from the drawing property pane object list, or enter the command in Quick Launch.

If the With applied values command is not shown on the ribbon, you can add it through the Ribbon editor.

Drawing color palette - New location for Invisible and None

The Invisible and None color options are now located at the end of the standard color list in the color palette. Earlier, they were located at the beginning. Invisible and None may or may not be shown in the color palette depending on where you open the color palette, and previously, the position of other colors could change. Now when the location of the colors no longer changes, selecting colors is more efficient.

TTSD-61941

Mirroring rebar pull-out pictures

You can now mirror pull-out pictures in rebar marks horizontally or vertically through the object-level rebar pull-out picture properties using the new Mirror options:

Mirroring is available in One factor and Two factors modes.

TTSD-61422

Add a mesh label in reinforcement mesh views

A new option, Mesh label, has been added in the Rebar mesh view creator dialog box allowing you to add a mesh label in the top-left corner of the view. The options are None and Mesh position. The mesh position value consists of the mesh position number (ASSEMBLY.SERIAL_NUMBER) and the assembly name (ASSEMBLY.NAME).

For details about creating mesh views, see Create reinforcement mesh views.

TSAC-8241

Improvement in sawing angles to NC for profiles

The sawing angles for web and flange start and end are now by default set to 0.00 degrees when one of the related outermost profile faces has a 90-degree angle to the profile direction.

Now the sawing angles are always based on the shortest possible sawing length. See also Standard Description for Steel Structure Pieces for the Numerical Controls.

Previously, some sawing angles were incorrectly added to the NC files. The old method ignored the 90-degree sawing angles on the edges. As a result, certain machines and DSTV viewers were not able to read DSTV files correctly for fabricating parts.

Nut and washer improvements in Template Editor

To allow nuts and washers to be correctly combined in reports, nuts and washers can now be separated within a bolt assembly in Template Editor.

In Template Editor templates, nuts and washers within a bolt assembly are no longer combined into one row. Previously, when a bolt assembly had different nuts and/or washers, the quantity of them was combined, but it was not possible to distinguish the sizes and standards of the nuts and washers. The result was that in the bolt inquiry report, washers were not combined.

Now, if nuts and washers are not the same in a bolt assembly, Template Editor is able to separate them in templates. You no longer need to use NUMBER 1 - NUMBER 3 in the row property rules for nuts and washers. This allows nuts and washers from multiple bolt groups to be correctly combined or separated. In the image below, you can see that washers are combined although they have different sizes.

To see this change in your own templates, you need to update the templates. The bolt inquiry report (TS_Report_Inquire_Bolt.rpt) already contains the fix.

TTSD-62118

TTSD-58390 Import, export, interoperability

Custom colors in imported DWG/DXF files: Now custom colors are imported correctly from DWG/DXF files. In Tekla Structures 2024, there was a strange block around the text or symbol text when you imported a newly exported drawing.

TTSD-60649 Import, export, interoperability

Reference models: Non-IFC reference models are now drawn correctly in 3D views after undo or redo.

TTSD-61923, TTSD-61931 Import, export, interoperability

IFC4 export: A sub-assembly that is created as IfcDiscreteAccessory or IfcMechanicalFastener is now exported completely.

TTSD-62385 Import, export, interoperability

IFC 2x3 export: Previously, all selected objects were sometimes not exported when there was surface treatment with an invalid parent relation. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62454 Import, export, interoperability

Previously, in some rare cases, a deleted folder in Trimble Connect prevented the model upload. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-62604 Import, export, interoperability

Point clouds: The potree converter has been improved, and now the .tdx files are again converted properly to the potree format.

TTSD-62653 Import, export, interoperability

IFC export: A custom property that would return a null value for string, caused a Tekla Structures application error. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62723 Import, export, interoperability

Import from Tekla Structural Designer: Previously, import was failing if a base plate was created under a missing column profile. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-63203, TTSD-63187, TTSD-63201, TTSD-63342 Import, export, interoperability

In Tekla Structures 2024, some drawings that were created with previous Tekla Structures versions could not be printed or exported in the DWG/DXF format. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-63345 Import, export, interoperability

Drawing export: Exporting drawings in the DWG format is slightly faster now.

TTSD-62556-2024SP1 Templates and reports

Template Editor:  All AREA attributes in Template Editor now have two decimals by default.

TTSD-62791 Templates and reports

In Tekla Structures 2024 Beta and Release Candidate, if you tried to create a pdf report and left the created PDF open in a PDF reader, Tekla Structures stopped responding due to an unhandled exception. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62949 Templates and reports

Template Editor: Using a CopyField() function to a value field that has a formula containing the ROW_IN_ALLPAGES attribute returns an incorrect value. This issue has now been fixed.
Now GetValue("ROW_IN_ALLPAGES") also returns the correct number of rows.

TSAC-6560 Drawings

Drawing 2D Library: The detail scale is now correct when you insert a detail in an existing view or place the detail onto paper without creating a new view.

TSAC-8409 Drawings

Rebar mesh view creator: You can now create mesh views from any view type, not only from front and back views. You can also create mesh views from views in general arrangement drawings.

TTSD-59065 Drawings

Drawing view labels: Previously, the text position of drawing view labels sometimes changed when you modified the section view name. This was due to conflicting Text position properties between the Section mark with view and Drawing view objects. Now, if you modify the Drawing view object after the section mark creation, changes made to the Section mark with view object no longer override the properties of the drawing view.

TTSD-60144 Drawings

Dimensions: Text type dimension tags in the middle lower tag now remain in the correct position when drawing view scale is adjusted.

TTSD-61254 Drawings

Single marks in merged rebar marks in drawings: You were able to change the text color for a single mark in merged rebar marks in the property pane even though the color change was not applied on the mark. This issue has now been fixed and the color setting for the single mark text in merged rebar marks is disabled in the property pane.

TTSD-62147 Drawings

Print drawings: The print preview performance has been improved. Now the preview just updates without displaying any messages. Only when multiple rows have been changed, or several changes happen very quickly, the waiting message is displayed.

TTSD-62425 Drawings

Drawing weld marks: Drawing weld marks showed first decimal places when the welding angle was exactly 15, 30, 60, or 120 degrees. For example, 15.0 was shown instead of 15. This issue has now been fixed and decimals are shown only when needed.

TTSD-62574 Drawings

In the drawing property pane, imperial units are now working for the Font height property of the drawing link, hyperlink and rich text objects.

TTSD-62617 Drawings

Dimensioning: Some angle dimensions may have been unnecessarily removed in drawing cloning. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62759 Drawings

Printing: If Black and white was selected as the printing Color option, gray colors with a percentage, like Gray 70%, were shown as black in line property previews. The issue was only cosmetic, and the actual output used a correct grayscale color. This has now been fixed and the line properties show the correct color.

TTSD-62762 Drawings

Symbol previews now work more reliably in the drawing property pane when black background is used (XS_BLACK_DRAWING_BACKGROUND=TRUE).

TTSD-62859 Drawings

Drawing property pane: The usability of modifying objects of different types in the drawing property pane has been improved.

TTSD-63017 Drawings

Merging marks: Merging marks manually in drawings no longer removes content that does not have a value at the time of merging.

TTSD-63223 Drawings

Weld marks: Earlier, when you deleted a weld from the model and opened a drawing that contained an automatic model weld mark for the deleted weld, the automatic model weld mark changed into a drawing weld mark. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62366 Tekla Model Sharing

Tekla Model Sharing: Previously, autosave could cause the model database/autosaved database to end up in an incorrect state. Now, autosave is stopped during model sharing operations, such as write out.

TTSD-51114 Reinforcement

Rebar assemblies: The properties of the main rebar object in a rebar assembly can now be output in templates using the MAINPART. prefix in front of the property name. For example, you can use MAINPART.LENGTH. Note that these properties already work in Tekla Structures 2022 and newer versions if you type the property name in the template.

TTSD-58557 Reinforcement

Rebar sets: Tekla Structures no longer warns you about a duplicate object when you create a rebar set modifier in the same location as an existing modifier but for a different rebar set. If two modifiers of the same type are created in the same location for the same rebar set, they are still considered duplicates as before.

TTSD-59330, TTSD-62789 Reinforcement

Rebar sets: Sometimes it was difficult to select leg surfaces when you were creating or modifying rebar sets in complex concrete structures. These issues have now been fixed.

TTSD-62418 Reinforcement

In Tekla Structures 2023, curved rebar groups started being treated as polygonal geometry, just like any other type of rebar, in rebar shape recognition. This was done to allow rebar shape recognition to generate rationalized and fabrication geometry for them (for example, where curves are recognized as straight). This resulted in slight inaccuracies in the inner or outer arc radii reported by rebar shape recognition, and other arc dimensions. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62850 Reinforcement

Rebar sets: A potential problem with handling of relations between rebar sets during model opening, which could cause incorrect layering, has now been fixed.

TTSD-63078 Reinforcement

Rebar sets: An issue has been fixed in rebar set layering whereby the layer offsets were incorrect when rebar sets on outer layers had differing sizes.

TTSD-63082 Reinforcement

Rebar sets: An issue has been fixed with the calculation of bars in a rebar set containing three guidelines which may result in incorrect length or invalid bars.

TTSD-60450 Modeling

Now the fields in the user-defined attributes dialog boxes can contain up to 255 characters, which is the same number of characters as in the property pane.

Previously, the fields in the user-defined attributes dialog boxes could contain only 79 characters.

TTSD-60490 Modeling

Previously, there was an issue with lofted plates when the center line segments were almost flat but had a very small angle difference. This has now been fixed.

TTSD-61066 Modeling

Welds: When you use the Prepare part for welding with polygon command, the property pane now accepts ANTIMATERIAL as valid material for the polygonal shape.

TTSD-61934 Modeling

BCF Topics: Now, a BCF topics view created in Trimble Connect and loaded in Tekla Structures also loads the selected or hidden status of the native Tekla Structures objects from the model.

TTSD-61935 Modeling

BCF Topics: Now the views that are created in Tekla Structures save the objects' selected or the hidden status, set by using the object representation settings.

When a Tekla Structures model is uploaded to a Trimble Connect project as a .tekla file and the view is loaded in Trimble Connect or in Tekla Structures, the selected objects are highlighted and the hidden objects remain hidden.

TTSD-62047, TTSD-62368, TTSD-58984 Modeling

Previously, bolt holes that went through several even surfaces of a part were created through the entire part and were shown in the same way as bolt shanks in model views and drawings. This happened for parts with a circular hollow section or a profile with beveled flanges. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62281 Modeling

When multiple objects of different types are selected, the property pane is now slightly faster.

TTSD-62404 Modeling

An application error related to pours has been fixed.

TTSD-62534 Modeling

The view rotation symbol for the local coordinate system now rotates the model along the shortest path.

TTSD-62720 Modeling

Assembly ID has been removed from the columns that are available in the Clash check manager dialog box. The Assembly ID column is not available due to performance reasons, as fetching assembly information makes displaying clash check results slow. Assembly ID is shown in the detailed clash check results.

TTSD-62900 Modeling

BCF Topics: Measurements now take into consideration the settings in the XS_MAX_FRACTIONS_IN_MODEL advanced option for the ft-inch measurements.

TTSD-62928 Modeling

BCF Topics: Previously, when pour objects were hidden, and a BCF topic view was created and the view was loaded in Tekla Structures, the pour objects were not hidden. This has now been fixed, and the pour objects remain hidden.

TTSD-63008 Modeling

Previously, if the contextual toolbar was pinned to a fixed position and you started a direct modification command which had its own toolbar, the position of the contextual toolbar might have changed after the direct modification command was finished or interrupted.

TTSD-63204 Modeling

Now, in DirectX rendered model views with the object rendering set to Parts wireframe, the objects remain visible longer when you zoom out.

SOLD-2276 Licensing

Previously, there was a noticeable delay when changing the modeling command after working offline for a few hours. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62124 Licensing

The notification that is shown when the connection to the licensing server is lost no longer takes focus from the user's mouse. The user can continue working in the main Tekla Structures window without having to change focus to make the window active again.

TSAC-8066 Tools and components

Bridge creator: You can now define the phase for the objects that Bridge creator creates.
The Phase box has been added to the General tab and to the Components tab in the Bridge creator dialog box.

TTSD-62288, TTSD-63030 Numbering

Previously, identical parts received different position numbers if the parts had both regular bolt holes and tapped holes with the same diameter. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62879 User interface

Property pane: Copying properties to the clipboard now causes less visual blinking than previously.

TSAC-8365 Import, export, interoperability (steel)

DSTV to DXF converter: A new option, Draw outer diameter of countersunk holes, has been added on the Environment tab. If you select Yes, the outer diameter of the countersunk holes will be created in addition to the inner diameter. If you select No, only the inner diameter will be created. No is the default value.

TTSD-54529 Import, export, interoperability (steel)

DSTV/NC: Earlier, in certain cases where the profile flange was cut and the distance from the flange within which the web is not cut was set, the resulting geometry was incorrect. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62416 Import, export, interoperability (steel)

DSTV/NC: Earlier, when you used model or object attributes in the part position number and had XS_USE_ASSEMBLY_NUMBER_FOR set to an empty value, the number of parts in NC files was incorrect. This issue has now been fixed.

TTSD-62625 Import, export, interoperability (steel)

DSTV/NC: Earlier, when you exported a bent plate with pop-marks to DSTV, bending lines were exported incorrectly. This issue has now been fixed.
