Tekla Structural Designer Integrator for Autodesk Revit

Overview

Users of the integration process should note that all structural instances are created within Autodesk Revit without any analysis model capabilities. The analytical model is generally created once the entire physical model has been completed.

Creating the initial analytical model

Once the physical model has been completed within Revit, the analytical model can be created by using the command Create Analytical Model held on the Tekla Integration tab.

Please note that the default selection option of Entire Structural Model will be grayed unless structural instances are selected prior to running the command.

When initially creating the analytical model, the Create New Only option should be chosen followed by the Create button to exit the dialog and create the analytical model.

At the end of the analytical model creation process, a log file will be generated listing the statistics of the process. This will also list any warnings or errors which have taken place during the creation process.

Note : The log for the Create Analytical Model command will be automatically saved to the C:\Users\<username>\Documents directory.

What objects are included in the analytical model?

The following object categories will be considered for inclusion in the analytical model :

  • Floors

  • Structural Columns

  • Structural Framing

  • Structural Trusses (export only)

  • Walls

Structural Foundations

Autodesk has changed Structural Foundation instances to be no longer considered structurally significant. This object category will not be considered for inclusion in the analytical model.

IFC objects

Please note after directly opening or linking and binding IFC files, the created object instances cannot be considered for inclusion in the analytical model. This is a general restriction of the Autodesk Revit software.

Checking existing analytical models

The Create Analytical Model command can also detect and remove any analytical instances that are not associated with a physical model instance.

An option controls the deletion of any unassociated analytical instances detected during the Create Analytical Model process.

Revit IDs of all deleted analytical elements will be reported in the log file.
