Import Models window

The Import Models window can be opened and closed from the Windows ribbon. By default it is minimized to the side pane on the right side of the screen.

The Import Models window is used to import a TrimBIM model, (typically by Engineers who use Tekla Structures during early stage design); it can also be used to import a reference model.

  • TrimBIM model import is applicable for models containing steel members, concrete members, and slabs. It allows you to automatically generate a connected, solvable model in Tekla Structural Designer (referred to here as the 'semantic model') directly from a Tekla Structures model. The corresponding reference model overlay is also imported.

  • Reference model import can be used for any model. The reference model is imported as an overlay in a number of configurable layers and then displayed in 3D views and 2D level and frame views.

A Hide or Display button in the window allows the entire overlay to be toggled on/off in all views.

Individual layers can also be configured or hidden via the Edit Model dialog which is accessed by right clicking on the imported model name in the window and selecting Edit from the context menu, as shown below.
