Sub Structures - review, create and modify

Graphically create, review and modify sub structures for modeling purposes from a Review View using the Sub Structures command. This can be especially useful in large models, as individual sub structures can then be differentiated by color and worked on in separate views.

If multiple sub structures have been created, you may find them easier to manage by organizing them into groups. Each group can be edited, designed, or reported on in isolation.

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Sub Structures.

The elements in the model are color coded based on whether they belong to sub structures.

  3. In the Properties window set Report/Update as required:
    1. Review All - to examine the existing sub structures.
    2. Update Selected - select items to add to an existing, or a new sub structure.
    3. Update Group - to add or remove existing sub structures to/from an existing, or new sub structure group.
