Any Property - review and copy

Graphically review any selected entity property and copy it to other entities from a Review View using the Show/Alter State command Any Property attribute.

Any Property has two modes of operation:

  • Review - provides an intuitive means to review modeling accuracy and locate mistakes.

  • Copy - enables a selected property to be copied from one entity to others.

In either mode you may choose to apply an Entity Filter in order to focus on a specific entity type or variant of an entity type.

Any Property (Review mode)

As shown above, this mode provides an easy way to review the model in order to detect any property modeling inconsistencies.

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Any Property
  5. In the Mode list, select Review
  6. Select an entity which has the property you want to compare.
    The property names (but not values) are displayed in the Properties window for the selected entity type.
    Note: In the graphical display an arrow is used to indicate the individual entity that has been selected.
  7. Select the property name in the Properties window that you want to compare.

    Entities of the same type as the selected entity are color coded for the selected property name. The different property values being displayed in a legend.

Apply an entity type filter

As shown above, when using the Any Property attribute, you may choose to apply an Entity Filter to focus on a specific entity type or variant of an entity type.
  1. In the Attribute list, select Any Property.
  2. In the Mode list, select Review or Copy as required.
  3. In the Properties window, in the Entity type list select the type you require.
    In the graphical display, only those entities of the selected type are available for selection, (other entity types are ghosted).
  4. If required, in the Variant list select a variant of the chosen entity type.
    In the graphical display, only those entities of the selected type and variant are available for selection.

Make selected entity properties editable (Review mode)

Having reviewed the model (as described in the above section), it is possible to show and edit the properties of the originally selected entity if required.
  1. Use Any Property in Review mode (as described in the above section) to review the model.
  2. Select Editable Properties.
    The properties of the originally selected entity are displayed.
    Note: In the graphical display an arrow is used to indicate the individual entity that has been selected.
  3. Edit the properties of the selected entity if required.

Any Property (Copy mode)

This mode provides an easy way to correct property modeling inconsistencies.

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Any Property.
  5. In the Mode list, select Copy
  6. Select an entity which has the property you want to copy.
    The property names (and values) are displayed in the Properties window for the selected entity type.
    Note: In the graphical display an arrow is used to indicate the individual entity that has been selected.
  7. Select the property name in the Properties window that you want to copy.

    Entities of the same type as the selected entity are color coded for the selected property name. The different property values being displayed in a legend.

  8. To apply the selected property value, do one of the following:
    • Click an individual entity to copy the selected property value to it.
    • Hold down the left mouse button and drag a box from left to right to copy the property value to all entities within the box.
    • Hold down the left mouse button and drag a box from right to left to copy the property value to all entities within the box or cut by the box.
