Staged Construction - review stages

Graphically review construction stages in order to define the content and duration of each stage in a Review View using the Show/Alter State command Staged Construction attribute.

Review existing stage content and stage durations

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Staged Construction.
  5. Set the Mode to New Structure by Stage.

    Entities are color coded according to their construction stage. The duration of each stage (in weeks) is indicated in the legend.

Change the number of stages

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Staged Construction.
  5. Set the Mode to New Structure by Stage.

    Entities are color coded according to their construction stage. The duration of each stage (in weeks) is indicated in the legend.

  6. Under Data click Stage Data then click the Edit button.

    This displays the Edit Stage Data dialog box.

    Note:

    In the table each floor initially defaults to either Auto (Active), or Auto (Inactive):

    • Auto (Active) - the floor level is an active stage because it contains at least one member, or has a member attached to it from below.

    • Auto (Inactive) - the floor level is not an active stage because it doesn’t contain at least one member, or have a member attached to it from below.

    • The auto defaults can be overridden by manually setting a level to be an active or an inactive stage.

  7. In the table, set Active Stage at the level of the stage to be removed to Inactive.

    The stage is removed and all entities at that level are moved to the next active stage.

Note: If required, you can also use the table to edit individual stage durations.

Modify the duration of all stages

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Staged Construction.
  5. Under Data set Stage Duration to the value required.

    The specified duration is applied to all stages.

Modify the duration of an individual stage in the Properties window

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Staged Construction.
  5. Set the Mode to Edit Stage.
  6. In the Stage list under Options, select the stage to edit.

    Entities in the selected stage are shown and the duration of the stage is indicated in the legend. A new section for the stage name is added to the Properties window, under which the selected stage's duration and stage time are displayed.

    In the Properties window entities in the currently selected stage are shown and the duration of the stage is indicated in the legend.

  7. In the Properties window, under the stage name change Stage Duration to the value required. (Be careful not to change it in the Data section as this would change the duration of all stages).

    The specified duration is applied to the selected stage only.

Note: You can also modify an individual stage's duration in Add to Stage and Remove from Stage modes.

Modify stage content - add to stage

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Add to Stage.
  5. In the Stage list under Options, select the stage to edit.

    Entities in the currently selected and previous stages are indicated in the legend. Entities that can be added to the current stage are shown as ghosted.

  6. Select the entities to add to the stage.

    The selected entities are added to the stage.

Note: You can also add entities to a stage in the same way in Edit Stage mode.

Modify stage content - remove from stage

  1. Open a view and switch the view regime to Review View.
  2. On the Review ribbon, click Show/Alter State.
  3. Go to the Properties window.
  4. In the Attribute list, select Remove from Stage.
  5. In the Stage list under Options, select the stage to edit.

    Entities in the currently selected and previous stages are indicated in the legend.

  6. Select an entity from the current stage to remove it.

    The selected entity is removed from the current stage and added to the next stage.

    Note: Entities cannot be removed from the final construction stage.
Note: You can also remove entities from a stage when in Edit Stage mode.
