Releases - review and set for members and walls

Graphically review and set releases in a Review View using the Show/Alter State command Releases attribute.

The Releases attribute is applicable to meshed walls, mid-pier walls and member variants of any material.

The information displayed graphically is controlled by Mode, Entity type, Variant and Fixity Type properties.

Property Description
Mode

Toggle - this mode displays the current releases for the selected Entity type and can be used to toggle the releases at a specific location between the available types.

Set On - this mode displays the current releases for the selected Entity type and can be used to apply a specific fixity at a specific location.

Entity type

Entity type sets the view information for the selected Entity type you wish to work with, the only types available being Member and Wall.

Variant

Selecting a Variant makes it easier to focus on the specific entity type variant you want to work with. The drop list lists all the variants contained in the current model.

Fixity Type

Fixity Type is only displayed when Mode is Set On. The available types reflect the fixity types available in the Properties dialog for the selected entity type.

For example, with the Member entity type selected, they are: Fixed , Moment (pin My), and Moment (pin Mz).

      • If both ends currently have the same end fixity then both are changed to the next valid type.

      • If the ends currently have different end fixities then both are changed to pinned (regardless of their current fixity).

    • Hold down the left mouse button and drag a box from left to right to alter the fixity settings of all members within the box.

Note: If you want to apply or remove a cantilever end, first select Cantilever end in the Attribute list. For details, see: Cantilever end - review and set for beams and columns.
