Steel connections - new bracing connections
In the 2024 Service Pack 3 release, when working with steel connections, the range of connections involving brace members has been extended with the addition of three new connection types as illustrated in the picture below:
-
Beam brace connection (BBC) - formed where one or more brace members are connected to a beam flange or web, such as in the case of V and A brace patterns or single braces connected within the length of a beam span.
-
Column brace connection (CBC) - formed where one or more brace members are connected to a column flange or web, such as in the case of K brace patterns or single braces connected within the length of a column stack.
-
X brace connection (XBC) - formed where two brace members intersect each other, such as in the case of an X brace pattern.
-
Note - the BBC and CBC connection types can be exported to IDEA StatiCa Checkbot (see also Export to IDEA StatiCa Connection Design), however the XBC type cannot be exported due to some current limitations of IDEA.
