New Instructor side pane

In the 2024 Service Pack 1 release, we introduced an Instructor side pane. This provides contextual guidance on the use of application features within the application window meaning it is no longer necessary to go to Tekla User Assistance (TUA) online for much basic information. This will be of significant benefit for both new and returning users and trialists - anyone who needs to quickly learn or refresh their knowledge of the basic functionality of the application.

The Instructor is by default is docked to the right of the application window together with the existing windows/ panes such as Scene Content and Tekla Online, and is opened in a similar manner. We recommend you size it and pin it open to have instant access to its content as you use and navigate the program.

  • With the Instructor open, simply move the cursor over a ribbon command to see information about it in the pane. This includes commands that are currently inactivated (for example 2D view specific commands when in a 3D view/ mode) and those in ribbon drop lists. As shown in the images below, many of the information topics include short videos showing the command in action, which will play automatically and can be re-watched. The topics also include a list of command steps where appropriate, as well as links to further information in TUA.
