Masonry parapet wall design
Masonry parapet walls can be defined and designed in Tekla Structural Designer. This feature is most helpful in capturing accurate loading as a parapet wall with grout and reinforcement matching the wall below will typically not control the design of the wall. Where a parapet wall requires specific design attention for slenderness or additional axial load, the most accurate result is achieved by defining a reasonable user input value for Minor effective length factor. The calculated effective length will tend to be unconservative for walls set as Braced for minor axis and very conservative for walls set to Braced.
