Generate load combinations automatically

The easiest way to create load combinations is to generate the combinations automatically using the Combination Generator.

Note: Construction Stage combinations must be created manually.

Open the Combination Generator

  1. On the Load tab, click Combination.

    The Loading dialog box opens on the Combinations page. On this page, you can see all currently existing load combinations.

  2. Click Generate...

    The Combination Generator dialog box opens appropriate to the regional code being worked to.

  3. If required, select an existing, or enter a new Scenario for the generated combinations.If you don't want to apply a scenario, choose "None".
    A load combination scenario in Tekla Structural Designer refers to a prefix or grouping applied to a set of load combinations generated during a specific run of the Combination Generator. It allows you to organize and distinguish combinations created for different purposes, such as "Erection" or "Operating" scenarios. By entering a scenario prefix, you can re-run the Combination Generator to quickly generate additional combinations for alternative scenarios without overwriting unrelated combinations.

On completion of the Combination Generator

Once you have specified the necessary information within the combination generator you are returned to the Combinations page. On this page you can:
  • Rename combinations.
  • Review the options that have been applied to an individual combination.
  • Specify if camber is to be applied to a combination.
  • Choose which combinations are active for design.
    • If you have used scenarios, you can click the By Scenario button to rapidly activate all of the combinations in selected scenarios.
  • Choose which combinations are to be checked for strength during design.
  • Choose which combinations are to be assessed for deflection during design.
Tip: To review the options that have been applied to an individual combination, click the combination name in the list on the left side of the Loading dialog box.
