Stud connector strength (Composite beams: EC4 Eurocode)

The following studs are offered from the materials database:
  • 19mm diameter studs with 100, 125, and 150mm nominal height (95, 120 and 145mm as welded height).
  • 22mm diameter studs are also offered with 125 and 150 nominal height. These can only be used for precast plank decks and profiled metal decks with closed ends. (e.g. Sigmat).

Stud strength (standard decking)

The design strength of the shear connectors in steel composite floor construction is generally reduced - via a reduction factor - to account for the influence of the deck geometry. The code of practice gives equations for these factors for standard decking, so they are not exposed for editing.

Stud strength (closed ends decking)

For deck types with closed ends (e.g. Sigmat decking) - given their height and discontinuity over the supporting beams - it is not clear that the code equations apply. Hence - in the absence of other specific guidance - it is necessary to input user-defined reduction factor values for parallel and perpendicular sheeting. (range from 0+ to 1).

Additionally, the option to “Apply NCCI…” is disabled where studs are “Shop welded” for Closed Ends decking.
