Design of timber members, precast members and masonry walls

Tekla Structural Designer integrates with Tekla Tedds to take advantage of its design capabilities for timber members (to US codes and Eurocodes), precast members (to Eurocodes only), and masonry walls (to US codes only).

Design and check timber members and precast members

Provided an appropriate design code has been selected, once an analysis has been performed each timber or precast member will have a Design using Tekla Tedds command available when you right click it in the Project Workspace Structure Tree, or in a Scene view as shown below.

If group design has been activated for the specific member type in Design Settings an additional option is provided to design the group.

Other design options are available giving you the flexibility to design the whole model, a selection, a specific member type, or a substructure. For details, see: Design using Tekla Tedds

Once the design of the member or group has been completed, the design data is attached to member/group and the Check in Tedds command becomes available on the Design ribbon

Check options are added to the right click context menus, giving you the flexibility to check the whole model, a selection, a specific member type, or a substructure. For details, see: Check using Tekla Tedds

In addition Export to Tekla Tedds and Clear Tekla Tedds Data commands are added to the right click context menu.

Design and check masonry walls

Provided an appropriate design code has been selected and suitable load combinations have been defined (and analyzed), the Check using Tekla Tedds command can be run from the Design ribbon to rapidly access all of the masonry walls in the model using a default basic set of Tedds data.

Other check and design options are also available, giving you the flexibility to check or design an individual wall, a selection, or a substructure. For details, see: Check using Tekla Tedds and Design using Tekla Tedds

Once a wall has been checked or designed the Tedds data is attached to wall and additional options to Export to Tekla Tedds or Clear Tekla Tedds Data are added to the right click menu.
