Display sway, drift, and story shear

Story Forces

Story forces (Dir 1 and 2) can be displayed as follows:

  1. Open a view and set the view regime to Results View.

    The Results ribbon is displayed.

  2. Set the analysis type and loading for viewing analysis results.
  3. In the Sway Drift and Story Shear group, select Drift, then from the list beneath select Story Forces Dir 1 or Story Forces Dir 2 as required.

    Story forces are displayed for the selected direction.

Note:

By default small story force values are not displayed. You can control the threshold for this in Model Settings > Graphics View Settings by adjusting the Do not display values of story shear minimum below value.

CAUTION:

Story force values are only displayed at column nodes, at the common node of a brace and column, and at the common node of an A or V brace pair. For more details, see: Limitations

Story Shears

Story shears (Dir 1 and 2) can be displayed as follows:

  1. Open a view and set the view regime to Results View.

    The Results ribbon is displayed.

  2. Set the analysis type and loading for viewing analysis results.
  3. In the Sway Drift and Story Shear group, select Drift, then from the list beneath select Story Shears Dir 1 or Story Shears Dir 2 as required.

    Story shears are displayed for the selected direction.

Wall/Braced Bay Story Shears

Wall/braced bay story shears (Dir 1 and 2), or Wall/braced bay story shears (in-plane) can be displayed as follows:

  1. Open a view and set the view regime to Results View.

    The Results ribbon is displayed.

  2. Set the analysis type and loading for viewing analysis results.
  3. In the Sway Drift and Story Shear group, select Drift, then from the list beneath select Wall/Braced Bay Story Shears In-Plane, Wall/Braced Bay Story Shears Dir 1 or Wall/Braced Bay Story Shears Dir 2 as required.
    Cumulative story shears to be resisted by walls and braced bays are displayed for the selected direction. Story shears resisted by moment frames are not shown.
