This release will upgrade your Tekla Structural Designer installation to version number 18.1.3.43 and should be installed to ensure optimum function of the program. It includes a number of enhancements and issue resolutions as detailed below.

Licensing & Installation
- Licensing:
- No new license is required for this version.
- License Server Version - for server licenses, it is always our recommendation that you are running the latest version of the Tekla Structural License Service on your license server. Please see System Requirements for specific version details.
- Installation - this service pack requires Tekla Structural Designer 2018i to be installed and will upgrade this to version 18.1.3.43.
- Previous Versions and file compatibility - Files from all previous versions can be opened in this release however note that, once saved, they may not open in an older version. If you wish to retain this option we therefore recommend using the File > Save As… option to save a new version of the file and retain the original.
Issues with Associated Bulletins
- [TSD-1857]1 - Seismic Loading - Indian Head Code - for the RSA method, the fundamental period from Vibration Analysis was used to determine the seismic torsion loads. This had the potential to produce unconservative loading. For more information please see Product Bulletin PBTSD-1902-4.
- This issue is addressed in this release as follows:
- For RSA and a given direction, the greater of Vb (the code base shear calculated using the vibration analysis fundamental period) and V̅b (the code base shear calculated using Ta ) is used for the static floor torsions. In addition Vb is now reported in Seismic Design Report to make this clearer.
- Furthermore, scaling of the RSA lateral force results is performed to the greater of Vb & V̅b.
- Note that when the Localization option is enabled and an override value of Design static base shear V is specified, this is used in place of both Vb & V̅b for both ELF and RSA.
- Additionally, selection of the period from Vibration Analysis is now prevented for ELF. Static floor forces and torsions are those resulting from either Ta or the User specified period where this option is chosen.
- This issue is addressed in this release as follows:
- [TSD-2784]1 - Concrete Walls - 2D Wall Results and Design - for 2D Wall Results (Wall Line forces) for Axial and Shear forces for the more rare cases of inclined meshed walls only, this issue could result in axial force being determined as tension instead of compression or vice-versa and/or reduced/increased values of shear and axial force. Since the 2D Wall Results are used in concrete wall design checks, this could produce either a conservative or an unconservative design. For more information please see Product Bulletin PBTSD-1902-1.

- Concrete Design - Columns - Seismic:
- [TSD-2274]1 - Shear Check - ACI 318 All Years - this issue relates to the seismic design of reinforced concrete columns assigned to Intermediate Moment Frames to all US Concrete Codes. When checking the column minor axis direction, the seismic shear component used in the calculation of the amplified design shear was that from the major direction. This had the potential to produce an unconservative check where the shear produced by seismic loads was critical in the minor direction. For more information please see Product Bulletin PBTSD-1902-2.
- This issue is addressed in this release.
- [TSD-2275]1 - Shear Check - ACI 318-14 - this issue relates to the seismic design of reinforced concrete columns assigned to Intermediate Moment Frames and the 2014 version of ACI 318, for both ELF and RSA results. The value of the largest shear force in a stack with increased earthquake effect was incorrectly set to zero when compared to design for the previous ACI 318-11. This occurred for every column stack assigned to a IMF when designed to ACI 318-14, regardless of the seismic combination being designed to. Fixes & Enhancements
General & Modeling
- A number of fixes which are not detailed explicitly herein are made to improve performance and stability, for example the issue listed here directly below.
- [TSD-2359, TSD-2375, TSD-2501, TSD-2502]1 - program errors or crashes could occur when running Analysis or after making edits in the Loading dialog for models in which pattern load cases or combinations had been deleted. This is fixed in this release.
Loading
- [TSD-2466]1 - Load Combinations - Generator - user defined Snow load case types (US only) were not being included in generated seismic combinations (either combination generator or seismic wizard). Note Generated Load cases resulting from the Snow Wizard were being included correctly. This issue relates only to Release 2018i (version 18.1.0.45) - in which it was introduced - and subsequent releases and is fixed in this release.
- [TSD-2098]1 - Wind Wizard - an issue introduced in Release 2018i SP2 (version 18.1.2.41 released in Dec 2018) causing slow operation of the wind wizard is fixed in this release.
Analysis & Results
- [TSD-2278]1 - Results View - 2D Results - Envelopes - in Release 2018i (version 18.1.0.45 released in Sept 2018) the ability to view enveloped results for design moments and reinforcement areas in slabs was lost (due to other enhancements in the results ribbon). This capability has been reinstated.
- [TSD-2017]1 - Results View - Deflections - deflection diagrams display issue which affected models with A, V or K brace pairs are fixed in this release.
Design
General
- [TSD-1924]1 - Foundation Design - Pad Bases (Spread Footings) - All Headcodes (featuring Foundation Design) - top reinforcement (minima) is no longer set by auto-design when not required (i.e. no top bending moment exists within the base for a given direction). This issue relates only to Release 2018i (version 18.1.0.45 released in Sept 2018) - in which the design of top reinforcement for Pad Bases was first implemented - and subsequent releases.
Head Eurocode
- [TSD-2435]1 - Concrete Design - Slab Design - Punching Shear - Finnish NA - the maximum punching resistance of slabs, isolated foundations and mat foundations has been updated as per the requirements of the latest Finnish NA to EN 1992-1-1:2004 (AC2).
Head Code USA
- [TSD-2358]1 - Steel Design - Steel Joists - when Second-order analysis was set for design, via Design > Options > Analysis, the design process for steel joists would fail resulting in an error status. This could be worked around by using First-order analysis for design instead. This issue relates only to Release 2018i SP2 (version 18.1.2.41 released in Dec 2018) - in which it was introduced - and is fixed in this release.
Reports & Drawings
- [TSD-1854, TSD-2367]1 - Drawings - Beam End Forces & Foundation Reactions - if a Beam End Forces or Foundation Reactions drawing was requested for the results of 2nd order analysis, the drawing would always be generated for the 1st order analysis results instead (this would be immediately apparent from the drawing title block). This issue relates only to Release 2018i (version 18.1.0.45) - in which it was introduced - and subsequent releases and is fixed in this release.
