Creating tax groups that contain
multiple tax rates can be helpful for record keeping. For example, city, county, and state
tax rates can be combined into one group. Tax groups are available in the Purchasing and Order
Entry modules. Creating tax groups is optional, so if you wish, you can define and use single
tax rates instead.
You can create and modify tax groups in the Tax
Group Maintenance dialog.

To access
Tax
Group Maintenance, do one of the following:
- Go to .
- Go to . At the bottom right corner of the Tax
Rate Maintenance dialog, click Tax
Group Maintenance.
The Tax
Group Maintenance dialog opens.

- Click New.

In the
Abbreviation field, type an abbreviation code.
The abbreviation code will be used in lists where
you can select the tax group.
- In the Description field, type a description for the tax group.
- You can also type the state, country, or city that the tax group applies to.

Click
Add to save the tax group and add it to the list.
The new tax group is automatically selected.
- To select the tax rates that you want to add to
the tax group, click Included Tax Rates.
- Click the arrow buttons to move the tax rates that you want to include in the
tax group to the Included list.
- Click
OK.
The
selected tax rates are added to the selected tax
group.

- Select a tax group in the list.
- Modify the abbreviation, description, state,
county, and city according to your needs.
- If necessary, click Included Tax Rates to modify the tax rates included in the tax
group.
- Click the arrow buttons to move the tax rates that you want to include in the
tax group to the Included list.
- Click Edit to save the changes.

Note
that you cannot delete tax groups that are used
somewhere in Tekla
PowerFab.
- Select a tax group in the list.
- Click
Delete.
- To permanently delete tax group, click Yes in the confirmation dialog.

To close the
dialog, click the Close button (X) in the upper-right corner.
Once you have created a tax group, you can select the tax rates that you want to
include in the group.
You can now also select the tax groups as
default values in Purchase Order Company Standards.
