Stimulsoft report group headers and footers

Group headers group and sort the data by a specified field. You can create multiple group headers for a report. A group header should have a corresponding footer and both should be named to keep the report manageable.

For a bill of material report you can create a group header for Shape, Dimensions, Grade, Width, and Length each. For each group, specify the field to be used in the Condition property of the group, for example, Projects.JobNumber.

In the report, you then have a table that displays the material by these groupings.

You can also use group headers to specify page breaks. You can, for example, start a new page for each material shape or project.

Group headers and footers are the place to put summarized data. For example, a Dimensions footer can be set to show the material quantity and weight totals for each material size.

Add a Group header and footer

  1. To add a Group header, do either of the following
    • On the Insert tab, click Setup Toolbox.

      1. Select Group Header.

Group Header appears in the toolbar.

      2. Select and hold Group Header and drag it to its location.
    • On the Insert tab, click Bands.

      1. On the dropdown menu, select and hold Group Header.
      2. Drag the new header to its location.
  2. To give the new header a name that matches the field name assigned to it, such as 'GroupFooterLength, do the following:
    1. Right-click the header, and on the menu that appears, select Properties.
    2. Under Design, select Name and type the new name.
  3. To keep reports manageable, add a group footer for each group header and assign it a name that matches the corresponding header, such as 'GroupFooterLength'.

To add the footer, follow the steps for adding the header. Just select Group Footer instead of Group Header.

Once you have added the group header, you can also modify the other properties.

Specify a data field for Condition

A group header needs to have a data field specified for its Condition property.

To specify the data field, do the following:
  1. Select the header and right-click it.

    A context menu opens.

  2. Select Design.
  3. On the Data Column tab, select the data field.
