Work packages

A work package represents the unit of work that is issued to the workshop for fabrication. In Production Control, you can create work packages to issue a batch of work to the fabrication shop. This provides you improved visibility into and control of how the job is issued to the workshop and delivered.

For users to be able select, insert, update, and delete work packages, the permissions must set in File > Administration > User Permissions on the Production Control tab.

For Tekla PowerFab Go users, the permissions are set File > Administration > User Permissions on the Work Packages tab.

Access the Work Packages dialog

To manage the work packages for one job, do the following:
1. Open a production control job.
2. Click the Production Control ribbon tab, and select Work Packages.
  
  The Work Packages dialog opens. This allows you to manage the work packages for this specific job.
  
  Use the navigation tree to filter work packages.
  
  Planner: Launch the Production Planner in Tekla PowerFab Go. See Production planning in Tekla PowerFab Go.
  
  Prioritize: Launches the work packages in Tekla PowerFab Go
  
  New: Create a new work package.
  
  Smart Create: Create multiple work packages at once. See Create work packages with Smart Create.
  
  Properties: Modify an existing work package.
  
  Delete: Delete a work package.
  
  Release to Fab: Release the work package to fabrication. You can unrelease the work package by clicking Remove from Fab. If one or more of the assemblies does not have a route assigned, you are asked to assign a route in the dialog that opens.
  
  Records the name of the employee who releases the work package and the date it was released. Updates the Status of the single work package to Released.
  
  Place on Hold: Place the work package on hold.
  
  Opens a dialog for recording any notes for the package. Records the name of the employee who places the package on hold with the date. Updates the Status of the single work package to On Hold. You can remove the work package from hold by clicking Remove Hold.
To manage the work packages for multiple jobs, do the following:
1. Go to Maintenance > Production Control > Work Packages.
  
  The Select Production Control Jobs dialog opens.
2. Click the arrow buttons to move the jobs that you want to display to the Included list.
3. Click OK.
  
  The Work Packages dialog opens displaying jobs that have work packages. This allows you to manage the work packages for these jobs.
