Production planning rules

You can define simple production planning rules that help you in sending work packages and cut lists to the most appropriate location.

You can define these rules based on various properties such as shape, size, length, weight, and finish. These rules allow you to set conditions that are validated when work packages or cut lists are assigned to workshops, work areas, machine groups, and machines. The rules help identify potential challeges and ensure items are sent to the correct location. This reduces manual effort and potential errors.

Because the rules are based on real-time data, they contribute to more efficient planning and scheduling.

The rules trigger warnings when work package or cut list properties violate any of the rules defined for that location. The warnings alert you to potential issues before they impact production. This helps to identify routing challenges or to optimize resource allocation. However, the warnings are there just to alert you, they do not prevent you from planning the work package or cut list to the location.

The warnings simplify decision-making by providing lists of exceptions, especially when scheduling to workshops with multiple potential work areas.

The warnings are also available in Tekla PowerFab Go.

You return to the Production Planning Rule dialog.

The values you selected are displayed in Settings.

Description: Type a description for the rule.

Workshop, Work Area, Machine Group, Machine: Select the available, desired targets for the rule.

  5. Click Save.

You return to the Production Planning Rules dialog.

The display area shows the new rule that you defined.

The rules you have defined trigger planning warnings when work package or cut list properties violate any of the rules.
