Create a dedicated estimating pricing file

You can create a new pricing maintenance file that can be used exclusively for estimating. This allows you to maintain your own list of default material pricing that will not impact any other department.

  1. Go to Maintenance > Pricing Maintenance.

    The Select Supplier dialog opens.

  2. Click the Pricing ribbon tab. and select Pricing Type Maintenance

    The Pricing Type Maintenance dialog opens.

  3. Click New.
  4. In Description, type, for example, Estimating (Service Center).
  5. In Copy Data From, select Service Center.

    This copies all the standard lengths and pricing information into the new estimating pricing file.

  6. Click Add.

  7. Close the Pricing Type Maintenance dialog to return to the Select Supplier dialog.

    Now you can open the Estimating (Service Center) to modify pricing. See Modify material lengths and pricing.

  8. To use the dedicated pricing file, do the following:
    1. In the estimating job, click Edit.

      The Estimate Job Edit dialog opens.

    2. Click Suppliers.

      The Suppliers dialog opens.

    3. To set the pricing file for each material group, select the dedicated pricing file (Estimating (Service Center)).
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Save.
