Create an Advance Bill job

To create a new job, you need to define a few properties. If you do not define job-specific properties, Tekla PowerFab uses the default properties in Company Standards.

  1. Open the module.

    The Select <Module> Job dialog opens.

  2. Click Add.

    The <Module> Job Edit dialog opens.

Continue to defining the properties on the tabs.

By clicking the buttons, you can find more settings. Modifying them overrides the settings defined in Maintenance > Company Standards.

Note: Defining job-specific properties is optional. If you do not define job-specific properties, Tekla PowerFab uses the default properties defined in Maintenance > Company Standards.

Define general settings

  1. In the <Module> Job Edit dialog, select the General tab.
  2. Add or modify the properties as needed.
    Option Description
    Job Date *

    The date on which the bid is due.

    Tekla PowerFab automatically uses the date when you create the job, but you can select a different date in the associated calendar.

    Job #

    A unique number for the job.

    Note: The job number cannot be modified after the job has been created.

    Shipping Date *

    The date on which the job will be shipped.

    Tekla PowerFab automatically uses the date when you create the job, but you can select a different date in the associated calendar.

    Job Description The description of the job.
    Job Status The job is either still in progress (Open) or it has been finished (Closed).

    Estimating has three additional default values, Bidding, Awarded, and Lost.

    You can filter the Select <Module> Job dialog by Job Status, so that only open jobs are shown.

    Job Location The town or city where the job takes place.
    Job Group Job groups allow you to identify and classify jobs that are similar. This makes filtering and reporting easier when you have a long list of jobs.

    Either type a job group directly in the blank field, or select an existing job group.

    Comment Any additional comments on the job.
    Project Management Job Select the project management job. that you want to link to the Advance Bill job.

    To load general information from the selected project management job to the Advance Bill job, click Load Info.

    Trimble Connect Project

    The Trimble Connect project that is linked to the current job.

    To link the job to a Trimble Connect project, click Link, select a project in the Link Project to Trimble Connect dialog, and click Link Project.

  3. Do either of the following:
    • Click Save.

      The <Module> Job Edit dialog closes.

    • Continue to add or modify properties.

Define customer settings

  1. In the <Module> Job Edit dialog, select the Customer tab.
  2. Add or modify the properties as needed.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Click Save.

      The <Module> Job Edit dialog closes.

    • Continue to add or modify properties.

Define input options

You can define how information is entered in the job.

  1. In the <Module> Job Edit dialog, select the Input Options tab.
  2. Add or modify the properties as needed.
    Option Description
    Mark Input Type

    Allows you to select which format is used when defining mark numbers.

    The Any Input and Any Input - Logical Sort options allow you to use any format when defining marks. The difference between the two options is that the Any Input - Logical Sort sorts the items in a different way.

    Auto-Increment

    When selected, Tekla PowerFab automatically populates the new mark number with the next available mark number when you are adding items in the Advance Bill dialog.

    Auto-Increment From Last Entered Value

    When selected, Tekla PowerFab automatically populates the new mark number with the next mark number from the last added mark number.

    Allow Blank

    When selected, Tekla PowerFab allows blank mark numbers.

    Allow Duplicate

    When selected, Tekla PowerFab allows duplicate mark numbers.

  3. Do either of the following:
    • Click Save.

      The <Module> Job Edit dialog closes.

    • Continue to add or modify properties.

When you click Save, the changes you made are saved. You can further modify the job properties by clicking the buttons.
