Restore the Tekla PowerFab database

Administrators can use the Restore Database command to replace the Tekla PowerFab database with a previously saved backup copy. This can be useful if the database has been compromised, or if the database needs to be moved from one server to another.

  1. Ensure that all other users have logged out of Tekla PowerFab.
  2. To stop the Tekla PowerFab Remote Server:
    1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Tekla\Tekla PowerFab.
    2. To open the Tekla PowerFab Remote Monitor window, double-click Tekla.PowerFab.Remote.Monitor.exe.
    3. In the Tekla PowerFab Remote Monitor window, click Stop Service.
  3. Close all dialogs that you have open in Tekla PowerFab.
  4. Click the File ribbon tab in the upper-left corner of the Tekla PowerFab window.
  5. On the File menu, select Restore Database.
  6. In the Open dialog, browse to find the backup file that you want to use.
  7. Select the file and click Open.
  8. To replace all existing information in the Tekla PowerFab database with the information in the backup file, click Yes in the confirmation dialog.

Tekla PowerFab restores the database. This may take a while.

  9. In the Message dialog, click OK to close Tekla PowerFab.
  10. To use the restored database, restart Tekla PowerFab and log in.

If the database is not the same version, you may be prompted to update it.
