Force shutdown

When you are logged in as an administrator, you can force the shutdown of any users logged in.

You may need to do this when updating Tekla PowerFab and need to make sure that all users are signed out or when you need to free up a network license for another user.

  1. Go to File > Administration.
  2. Click the Administration ribbon tab.
  3. On the context menu, select Users Currently Logged In.

The Users Currently Logged In dialog opens.

  4. Select one or more users to force them out of the program.
  5. Click Force Shutdown.

    The Force Shutdown dialog opens.

  6. Define the following properties:

Time Before Shutdown: Enter the amount of time the user has before their session of Tekla PowerFab shuts down. We recommend a minimum of five minutes so that the user has time to wrap up what they are working on.

Message: Type a message to display to the user when their program is being shut down.

  7. To start the shutdown, click Force Shutdown.

To cancel the pending shutdown, go into the Users Currently Logged In dialog, select one or more users with a pending shutdown, and click Cancel Shutdown. You have to be a user with administrative permissions to do this.

Note that you can end the session of any remote users by stopping the remote server.

In Microsoft Task Manager, check that there are no Tekla PowerFab processes running.
