Manage cost codes

You can use cost codes to keep track of specific costs and set them to match your accounting system. In Maintenance, you can create new cost codes, modify the existing cost codes, and delete unnecessary ones.

Create a cost code

  1. Go to Maintenance > Cost Maintenance > Cost Code.

    The Cost Code Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. Click New.
  3. In Cost Code, type the code.
  4. In Description, type a description for the code.
  5. From Default Cost Type list, select the cost type.
  6. Click Add.

Modify a cost code

  1. Go to Maintenance > Cost Maintenance > Cost Code.

    The Cost Code Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. Select the code that you want to modify.
  3. Modify the abbreviation and description as needed.
  4. To save the changes, click Edit.

Delete a cost code

Deleting a cost code is permanent and cannot be undone. After deleting a cost code, it is not available for use anymore.

  1. Go to Maintenance > Cost Maintenance > Cost Codes

    The Cost Code Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. Select the code that you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.

    A confirmation dialog box opens.

  4. To permanently delete the code, click Yes.
