Create an RFI
You can create a new request for information (RFI) in the RFI dialog box.

To access the RFI dialog box, do either of the following:
- In the Project dialog box, click RFIs.
- On the Summary tab , click + in the upper-right corner of the RFIs section, and select which requests for information you want to see.
The RFI dialog box opens.

- Click New.

Define the properties of the
request (1).
Option
Description
Originator The party that initiated the original request.
In the upper Originator list, select the originator company.
In the lower Originator list, select the contact person that initiated the request.
Note: Only the companies and their contact persons that have been added for the project in the Project dialog box are available in the lists.See Manage project contacts.
Orig RFI # The number of the original request that was sent to your company.
Note: The Orig RFI # is only available and mandatory if the originator of the request is some other party than your company.
Type the request number in the field.
Orig RFI Date The date when the original request was sent to your company.
Note: The Orig RFI Date is only available and mandatory if the originator of the request is some other party than your company.
Select a date in the drop-down calendar.
RFI # The number of the request or response that you are sending.
Note: An RFI number can only be used once.
Type the request number in the field.
RFI Date The date when you sent the request.
Select a date in the drop-down calendar.
RFI Status Indicates if all necessary information regarding the request has been received.
Remember to close requisitions once they have been responded to.
In the RFI Status list, select one of the following options:
- Open: All necessary information has not been received.
- Closed: All necessary information has been received
Note:- Setting the RFI status as Closed does not close the request, so the request can still be shown as overdue.
- To actually close the request, you need to define a response date when you have received all necessary information from the primary recipient of the request.
Request Date The date by which the requested information should be received.
Select a date in the drop-down calendar.
Subject The subject of the request.
Type a subject in the field.
Body The body text of the request.
Type the text of the request in the field.

To manage the recipients for the
request, click anywhere in the Recipient table (2).
The Recipients dialog box opens.
- Do one of the following:
- To create a new recipient, see Add a new recipient for an RFI.
- Select an existing recipient in the lists, define or modify the other properties, and click Save.
- To delete an existing recipient, click Delete and close the dialog box.
You return to the RFI dialog box. - To create the request, click Add
Next, you can add attachments to the RFI. See Attach files to an RFI.
Once the RFI is ready to be sent, it can be printed and sent manually, or emailed from Tekla PowerFab.
