Inspection test field properties
When you are creating a new test field or modifying an existing test field, you need to adjust the properties in the Inspection Test Field Setup dialog box.
Top section
The top section has inputs to identify the field.

| Field Name | Enter a unique name that is used in the test definition. |
| Title |
Enter a unique title that is used as the title of the field in the Run Test dialog box and in Remote Link. When you enter the field name, the title is set to match, and you can then change it. |
| Abbreviation |
Enter a unique abbreviation that identifies the field in a column header on a grid display. When you enter the field name, the abbreviation is set to match, and you can then change it. |
| Notes |
Type any additional text or instructions related to the field. This text will appear in a pop-up when the user hovers the mouse cursor over the field in the Run Test dialog box. |
Field properties
The field properties determine how the field is input and displayed.
| Property | Description |

| Field Type | The type of information to be captured by the field. Select a value from the drop-down list. The selection opens the corresponding tab with further selections. |
| Number of Instances | Enter the number of times the field is presented to the user when running the test. |
| Maximum Number of Instances | Enter the maximum number of instances of the field that can be entered when running the test. If this is greater than the Number of Instances value, then the user can add additional instances up to the maximum. |
| Only for Follow-Up Tests | When selected, this field is only available for entry
when running a follow-up test record. For example, if you add a Memo field to the test definition with this option checked, the inspector can record in the follow-up test record the corrective action that was required to fix the problem. |
Boolean
A yes/no checkbox entry.
Select if entering information in the field indicates a failure or creates a warning.
Numeric
An input that accepts a numeric entry.
: The field is for data collection only and does not indicate a failure condition.
: The field is for data collection only and does not indicate a warning condition.
- Minimum/Maximum: Available only if Test failure if in range or Test failure if out of range selected for Test Failure. Enter the minimum and maximum values for the range.
- Decimal Places: The minimum and maximum number of decimal places
- Units of Measure: A prefix or a suffix for the units of measure
- Entry Required: Select if entering information in the field is mandatory.
Date, Text, and Memo

Drop-Down
A drop-down entry. The available options are specified as part of the field definition.

| Restrict to Options | Select if the information is restricted to a list of
predefined options. If this option is not selected, the drop-down options are still available but the user may enter any text, even if it does not match one of those options. |
| Populate with Data Set |
When Tekla PowerFab Users is selected, the rest of the option settings are disabled. When the test is run, this drop-down field is populated with the list of active users in Tekla PowerFab, as entered in administration. |
| Parent Drop-Down Field Name | A drop-down field can be set so that its available options depend on the option selected in another drop-down field. |
| Entry Required | Select if entering information in the field is mandatory. |
New Option: Opens the Inspection Test Field Setup dialog box to add a new drop-down option. See Manage drop-down field options.
Properties: Opens the Inspection Test Field Setup dialog box to view and edit the properties of the currently selected drop-down option.
Delete: Deletes the currently selected drop-down option as well as any child options.
