Create and modify a work package

You can create work packages to issue a batch of work to the fabrication shop.

For instructions on accessing the Work Packages dialog, see Access the Work Packages dialog.

  1. In the Work Packages dialog box, click New.

    To modify an existing package, select the work package and click Properties.

    The Work Package dialog box opens.

    Work Package Details area:

    • Work Package #: Type a work package number (mandatory).
    • Description: Type a description for the work package.
    • Workshop (mandatory): Select a value from the list. For instructions on managing the value, see Manage workshops. For instructions on setting a default value, see Company information.
    • Start Date, Due Date: Select the dates in the drop-down calendar.
    • Group 1, Group 2: Type a name for the group or select from existing names.
    • Priority: Select a value from the drop-down list.
    • Notes: Type any notes related to the work package.

    Work Package Status area:

    • Released: No: Clicking Release to Fab changes this to Released: Yes

    • Completed: Changes to Yes when the work package has been completed

    • On Hold: No: Clicking Place on Hold opens the Work Package On Hold Notes and changes this to On Hold: Yes. The Edit button for the On Hold Notes is enabled.
    • On Hold Notes: Type any notes related to the hold status.

    Material Totals area: The figures are updated when any changes are made in the work package.

    • Asm Quantity: Total assembly quantity
    • Weight: Total weight
    • Surface Area: Total surface area
    • Add Assemblies: Allows you to assign assemblies to a work package
    • Add to Purchase Order: Allows you to add the work package to the selected purchase order

    Status area:

    • Links allows you to view the requisition, inventory, and inventory history materials to which the selected work package is linked.
    • Cut Lists, Drawings, Production Status, and Load Tracking allow you to view the status of cut lists, drawings, production, and load tracking that are associated to the assemblies or parts in a specific work package.

    Release to Fab: Release the work package to fabrication. If one or more of the assemblies does not have a route assigned, you are asked to assign a route in the dialog that opens.

    Records the name of the employee who releases the work package and the date it was released. Updates the Status of the single work package to Released.

    Place on Hold: Place the work package on hold.

    Opens a dialog for recording any notes for the package. Records the name of the employee who places the package on hold with the date. Updates the Status of the single work package to On Hold. You can remove the work package from hold by clicking Remove Hold.

    New: Create a new work package

  2. Define the properties on the Details tab.
  3. Click Save.

    The Assemblies and Parts tabs appear.

You can add main mark items to the work package. See Add assemblies to a work package.

You can assign main mark items to a work package when setting and modifying sequences.
