Apply a cost code and cost type to a material type

You can apply a cost code and cost type to a material type in Shape Maintenance. When you select a cost code, the linked cost type is automatically displayed and set as the default.

Before you start, make sure you have defined the cost types and cost codes in Maintenance > Cost Maintenance. See Cost maintenance.
  1. Go to Maintenance > Shapes/Grades/Sizes.

The Shape/Grade/Size Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. On the Shape/Grade/Size Maintenance ribbon tab, select Shape Maintenance.

The Shape Maintenance dialog box opens.

  3. In Default Cost Code, select a cost code.

The linked cost type in Default Cost Type is automatically populated and set as the default.

To change the cost type, select a new value from the Default Cost Type drop-down list.

To change the properties of multiple shapes at once, use Global Edit - Selected.

  4. Click Save Shape.
  5. To confirm the change, click Yes.
Note: The Cost Code and Cost Type fields are dynamic, which means that these can be reassigned at any time and will not overwrite any previous records of a prior cost code or cost type.
