Manage standard clips

In Standard Clips Maintenance, you can modify existing standard clips, and add material items and additional labor for weld, burn, drill, and punch to standard clips.

Note: Standard clips are only used if you have selected the Auto Clip-Angles checkbox in Maintenance > Estimating > Fabricator Information. You can also modify the standard clips on a job-by-job basis.
To access the Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box, do the following:
  1. Click the Maintenance ribbon tab.
  2. On the menu, select Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

Modify the properties of standard clips

  1. Go to Maintenance > Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

    The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. In the list on the left, select the standard clip.
  3. On the right, modify the standard clip properties according to your needs.

    For example, you can change the material shape or the quantity of clips. Note that even though the shape of the clip can be changed, you can only change the shape within the original material group.

  4. If you want to change the maximum number of holes in the clip, do the following:
    1. In the lower-left corner, click Set Max Clip Holes.
    2. Type the maximum hole number.
    3. Click Set Max Holes.
    4. Click Yes to confirm changing the maximum number of holes.

    Note that you cannot reduce the maximum number of holes if the selected clip is used in an estimating job.

  5. To update the standard clip properties, click Save below the list of standard clips.

Modify the cost code and cost type of multiple items

  1. Go to Maintenance > Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

    The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. Select the items whose properties you want to modify.

    To select multiple items, hold down Ctrl.

    To select a range of subsequent items, hold down Shift.

  3. On the Standard Clips Maintenance ribbon tab, select Global Edit - Selected.
  4. Select a cost code and cost type from the dropdown lists.
  5. Click Update.

Add additional labor or material items to a standard clip

  1. Go to Maintenance > Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

    The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. In the list on the left, select the standard clip.
  3. Under the Additional Labor list, click New.
  4. Determine the quantity, operation, thickness, operation type, and length.
  5. Click Add.
  6. To update the standard clip properties, click Save below the list of standard clips.

The additional labor is added to the clip. You can see the labor time of the additional labor at the bottom right corner of the dialog box.

Modify additional labor or material items

  1. Go to Maintenance > Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

    The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. In the list on the left, select the standard clip.
  3. In the Additional Labor list, select the desired item.
  4. Change the quantity, operation, thickness, operation type, or length.
  5. To save the changes, click Save under the Additional Labor list.
  6. To update the standard clip properties, click Save below the list of standard clips.

Delete additional labor or material items

  1. Go to Maintenance > Estimating > Labor Maintenance > Standard Clips.

    The Standard Clips Maintenance dialog box opens.

  2. In the list on the left, select the standard clip.
  3. In the Additional Labor list, select the desired item.
  4. Click Delete to permanently delete the item.
  5. To update the standard clip properties, click Save below the list of standard clips.
