Assign a cost code and cost type to multiple estimate items

You can assign cost codes and cost types to items in estimates. By establishing cost codes and cost types at the estimating stage of your project, you have better summary reporting of your project that aligns with your job costing practices.

Before you start, make sure you have created cost codes and cost types in Maintenance > Purchasing. See Manage cost codes and Manage cost types.
  1. In the Select Estimating Job dialog box, open a job.
  2. To assign a cost code or cost type to multiple items, select a group of items.

To select multiple items, hold down Ctrl.

To select a range of subsequent items, hold down Shift.

  3. In the Estimating ribbon tab, select Global Edit Selected.
The Global Edit - Selected dialog box opens.
  4. Select the Cost Code or Cost Type checkbox.
  5. Select the values from the drop-down list.
  6. Click Update.
