Function: Generate production data for Hundegger SpeedCut wood working machines.

BVX-Process: The Hundegger BVX format, like the BTL format, uses "Processes" to describe specific operations. The difference between the two "languages" is the format. Whereas the BTL processes are described in a proprietary format, the BVX format is based on a more open XML format. In any case, every operation is a process. For example, when a wooden beam has to be cut with a single saw cut, the BVX process "Cut" has to be used. And if a track needs to be provided with a "Birds Mouth" then the BVX process "Birds Mouth" should be used.

The BVX process to be applied is determined by the operation modeled on the component in Tekla Structures. The operations identified in BVX Export ML027 can be modeled in Tekla Structures using a component. For the other, often more complex operations, the user needs to indicate which process should be applied by modeling a negative volume and giving it a specific name.

Parameters tab

Use the Parameters tab to define the export parameters.

tab parameters

OptionDescription
Export

Export the concerned parts in the model. The options are:

● Selected parts

● All parts

Filter operation

The options are:

● Filter is not used. No selection filter is applied.

● Exclude filtered parts. The parts that fall within the selection filter are NOT exported.

● Only filtered parts. Only the parts that fall within the selection filter are exported.

FilterThis field is linked to field Filter operation. If you choose Exclude filtered parts or Only filtered parts, it is possible to select a selection filter here. If you choose Filter is not active, this field inactive.
Draw axes

It is possible to display a local axes system for each part by means of construction lines in the Tekla Structures model. This can be useful for problem analysis. When exporting large quantities of parts, it is recommended to turn off this functionality. This will speed up the export process. The options are:

● Yes

● No

Apply export filters

Indicate whether you want to apply an export filter. In the Export Filters tab, any export filters are added. The options are:

● Yes

● No

Group parts

The options are:

● By assembly by part: The number of times a part number occurs is written down per assembly number.

● By part: The number of times a particular part number occurs is written down. The assembly number is not written down.

● By assembly: For assembly each part is written on a separate line.

● By grouping: The output contains a separate line for each individual line and the assembly number is not written out.

Parts dimensions

The options are:

● From Profile catalog

● From model

Show log

Show the log file created during the export. If any errors occur during the export, the log file will show the ID of the object in question. Select the corresponding line and the object in the Tekla Structures model will be selected. The options are:

● Yes

● No

Show event types

Select which information is written to the log file.  The options are:

● All. Both info and error information are shown.

● Info. Only information from correctly exported processes is shown.

● Error. Only information from processes that have not been exported are shown.

Overwrite log files

Indicate whether existing log files may be overwritten or whether a new export adds the information to the existing log file. The options are:

● Yes

● No

BVX file version

Select which file version to export. The options are:

● BVX1. Profiles modelled with the Steel Beam command.

● BVX2. Plates modelled with the Contour plate command.

Part orientation

Part orientation on the machine. The options are:

Distance. Number of decimal places, preferably at least 1.

Angle. Number of decimal places, preferably at least 2.

Export pathDefine the location of the BVX files.

Export filters tab

In the Export filters tab, it is possible to set additional export filters. For relatively small projects, it is possible to export all parts to one file, regardless of the different properties of the parts to be exported. For larger projects, which for example are divided into phases or grouped by user defined attribute (UDA), it may be desirable to create an export file of a certain phase or certain group of parts, or even a combination of the two.

OptionDescription
Criterium

Select the desired property from the selection list. Depending on the property you select from the drop-down list, you can define the corresponding value in the Export field.

Example

Image

Active

Indicate whether the criterium should be active. The options are:

● Yes

● No

UDA name

When you choose UDA under Criterium, a list box appears where you can enter the UDA name. This UDA name must be entered in capital letters.

Example

Only the parts with material WHITEWOOD_C24 will be exported.

Generate

 The options are:

● File for all values

● File per value

Filter prefixThe Filter prefix depends on the criterium and is set automatically when selecting a criterium. It is possible to adjust this manually.

Configuration tab

In the Configuration tab you can define additional properties to be exported.

Operations tab

The Operations tab states that negative volumes based on solid round and tubular profiles marked with the letter D and whose diameter is less than or equal to 50 mm must be exported as a "Drilling" process.

Image
tab operations

OptionDescription
Section prefix and max diameterDefine the cross-section prefix and the maximum diameter that can be processed by the machine. When a negative volume is used in the model corresponding to both set condition, the negative volume will be automatically executed as a "Drilling" process regardless of the designation.
Split into Saw cut andChoice of which process is used in combination with the sawing operation if splitting is performed. The option Housing/ Lap/ Slot again depends on the machine.
Split when lap length

In case splitting the notch into different operations is not desired, this can be prevented by setting the "Split when lap length" value greater than the longest possible notch length.

If this value is smaller than the length of the notch, the process will be split.

Maximum block lengthDepends on Split when lap length.
Intermediate housing width

Length of the block (waste) to be cut. If these blocks are too long, this can cause blockages and malfunctions in the machine.

Depending on machine dimensions and other preconditions.

Final housing widthThe width of the "intermediate housing" is actually the width/diameter of the tool used to make the intermediate slots.
Add on saw depthAdditional cutting depth is used to compensate for tolerances in the dimensions of the profile.
Maximum saw depthDistance depends on the diameter of the saw blade in the machine.
Export Drilling by Bolt type

Specify which bolt type should or should not be exported. The options are:

  • All
  • Site
  • Workshop

These settings can be found in the bolt properties.

Image
BVX_043
Ignore bolts with no hole

Bolts are automatically recognized as holes. If there is no hole present at a bolt (group), you can choose to ignore the bolts.

These settings are indicated in the bolt properties as Special hole with Special hole type None.

Image
BVX_044

The options are:

  • Yes
  • No
Full length longitudinal operationIt is possible to perform an operation over the entire length of the part. Below are the various options.
Model byModel an operation as a Trim or as Negative volume.
Trim: Model a trim operation along the entire length of the part. When this trim is modeled at a 90° angle, BVX can export a shell operation.
Negative volume: model a negative volume with the name Longitudinal Cut. This cut cannot be modeled at a 90° angle to the part and must therefore always have a slight bevel between 1° and 89°. An example of the operation can be found on the Filter Operations tab.
Export asWhen the operation is modeled as a Trim or Longitudinal Cut, there is still the choice of how this operation is exported. The options are:
Image
BVX_045
The operation is exported as a cutout. The remaining piece is milled away.
Image
BVX_046
The operation is performed as a sawing operation. The remaining piece is sawn off, leaving it intact.
