Design models
Certain design tasks in Tekla Structural Designer can be performed directly from the Design and Foundations ribbon tabs, while others can only be accessed from context menus.
From the Design tab:
- Steel and concrete members and walls can be batch designed and as part of this process drift/sway, seismic drift, and wind drift checks are automatically performed as required.
- Slabs can be batch designed, patches batch designed and all punching checks performed.
- The response of floors to dynamic excitation can be checked
- All timber and precast members can be checked using Tekla Tedds (providing they have already been designed).
- All column base plates can be checked.
- Design settings can be specified.
From the Foundations tab:
From the context menus:
- Steel and concrete members and walls can be checked, individually, as a group, or as a selection.
- Steel and concrete members and walls can be designed, individually, as a group, or as a selection.

Individual concrete members and walls can be interactively designed.
- Slabs, patches and punching checks can be checked or designed; individually, or per floor.
- Isolated foundations can be checked or designed individually.
- Connections can be designed.
