Tekla PowerFab now allows to use a similar cost structure between Estimating and the estimate data that is read by Trimble Viewpoint and some other accounting systems. This provides you with an structure that you can easily compare with what you have in your accounting systems.

In Maintenance > Cost Maintenance, you can now find the cost code and the cost type libraries that you can define based on your company's accounting practice.

In the Cost Type dialog box, you can create your own cost type library. If you have an old cost type that you cannot delete because it has been used in old jobs but you do not want use it anymore, you can deactivate it by deselecting the Active checkbox.

The cost code library has been updated to enable linking cost codes with cost types.

You can access, view, assign, and adjust cost code and cost types across all areas within Tekla PowerFab from a single interface accessed via Maintenance > Estimating > Fabricator Information.

You can now also apply a specific cost code and cost type to each labor rate, estimate extras, shape maintenance, and standard clips.

In Shape Maintenance, you can select your defined default cost codes and cost types for a shape.

You can also apply changes to multiple items at once using Global Edit - Selected.

Once a cost code and cost type have been defined, you can select and apply these to your estimate items. You can also add cost code and cost type columns to view in the display area.

New cost functionality has also been added to Estimate Extras, where you can define cost code and cost type. The following new values have been added to the Cost Directed To list:

• Finish

• Subcontract

In Tekla PowerFab, it is now possible to define a labor archive date that holds the labor-related calculations that have been set up in Maintenance > Estimating, such as Burn, Drill, Punch, Weld, Labor Standards, and Labor Operations.

This creates a very safe way to work. It also provides a possibility to recalculate estimate labor to past or actual configurations.

You can also apply a default labor archive date to your estimates from the Estimating Job Maintenance dialog box.

You can now assign cost codes and cost types to pay categories both as default values for all jobs or for an individual job. They can then be assigned to the appropriate bill of material.

This acts as an additional layer of how material costs can defined, charged and tracked within the production control job.

Note that if you do not assign a pay category, the production control bill of material is charged with the default cost code and cost type.

After you have created a cost code and cost type, you can select them in a requisition and purchase order.

When you have defined a cost code and cost type in a requisition or purchase order, this information is carried over to the Inventory module.

Tekla PowerFab now contains a live summary interface that allows you to see the planned and actual estimates, to input and modify items, and to fully control your final results without leaving the estimate job. The summary displays the real-time valuees in the estimate.

Previously, you had to create a Summary information - To Excel report to view the final estimate results. Now you can get insights about job costing more easily as the final estimate results are available live in the estimate job in Tekla PowerFab.

While in the summary, you can add and modify data that affect the final numbers. You can group the data more efficiently than before and, in addition to a summary that corresponds to the old Summary information - To Excel report, you can also view the summary by cost codes and cost types. The summary report allows you to recalculate and lock prices.

You can add and specify commonly used items and services in Estimate Summary Additional Items.

You can now set a default tax code for purchase orders instead of having to remember to set it manually on each new purchase order

Once you have created tax rates and tax groups in Maintenance, you can select a tax group as the default value.

On the General tab of the Purchase Order Company Standards, you can now use the new Default Tax Group option to select which tax group should be automatically applied to all new purchase orders.

Once saved, all new purchase orders will have the default tax group automatically applied on the Financial tab. This can be still edited as required to ensure the correct tax group is selected for the specific purchase order.

The change management features introduced in Tekla PowerFab 2023 are now followed by further enhancements. You can now visualize the changes within the project via Trimble Connect.

As an estimator, you now have the ability to record the client and primary contact for each estimate, which will make it easier to find and update estimates. It also provides an extra layer of intelligence for future estimating dashboards where you will be able to identify win rate by client, for example.

When adding or editing an estimate job, you can select the client and the primary contact from the address book.

As an estimator, you can now apply a wider variety of job statuses to your estimates without affecting other job types. This allows your team to to build ýour own set of job statuses to track each estimate through the workflow.

You can record when a bid is in progress, has been submitted, is on hold, or won or lost. This not only provides greater visibility and transparency for the estimating team throughout the estimating workflow but it will also be essential for greater insight and analysis on future estimating dashboards.

In the Job Status Maintenance dialog box, you can create new statuses and define them as Estimating Only, which means that these statuses can only be selected for estimate jobs. This will allow you as an estimator to create your own set of statuses. This makes managing and prioritising estimates easier and provides greater transparency across the whole team.

Tekla PowerFab Go has an updated filtering view, which makes the filtering quicker, easier and more intuitive. The number of filter options has also been extended significantly. This means that you can now filter by finish, shape, size, grade, load number, and piece mark, for example.

The active filters are explicitly shown on the filter bar so that it is easy to see which filters are currently applied. From the filter bar, you can also clear either all filters or one filter at a time without opening the filtering view.

As of Tekla PowerFab 2023i SP6, in Trimble Connect Settings, it is now possible to restrict the regions that Tekla PowerFab communicates with. This is helpful when a firewall is in use that has geoblocking in place that prevents communication with one or more of those regions.
