Question:
My model contains parts without material. How were they created? How can I find and fix them all?
Answer:
You can create parts without material by opening the part properties dialog box, deleting the material, and clicking Apply. You get the message: “The material is not in your material catalog. Select a new material.” Regardless of the message, the empty material is now applied and you can accidentally create parts without material.
To set parts visible and all other objects invisible:
- Double-click the view to open the View Properties dialog box, and then click Display…
- Select Part check boxes and clear all other check boxes.
- Click Modify.

To see only parts without material:
- In the View Properties dialog box, click Object group…
- Click Add row.
- Select Part from the Category list, select Material from the Property list, select Equals from the Condition list, and leave Value empty.
- Click Modify.

Now you can see all parts without material and modify them to have a material.
