AI Cloud Fabrication drawings (Preview): Make a drawing collection public

The localized fabrication drawing collections need to be accessible by the users of the different environments. However, collections are only accessible by invitation (email) or by making them available to your company's account. To allow anyone using a certain role or environment to access a collection, the administrator needs to make the collection "Public". This action is reserved only for the administrators in the Management Console.

Make a fabrication drawing collection public

  1. Create and populate a new collection using the AI Cloud Fabrication drawings service.
  2. Locate and copy the GUID of the new collection:
    1. On the Drawings & reports ribbon tab, go to AI Cloud Fabrication drawings > Collections and select the collection you want to localize, so it becomes active.
    2. In the model folder, open the FabCollectionSettings_<username>.xml in the \attributes folder in a text editor.
The content of the file should look like this, and the part between <ActiveCollectionGuid> and </ActiveCollectionGuid> is the GUID:
      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><XmlCollectionSettings><ActiveCollectionGuid>38b72ad0-df40-4630-96d4-a94197d717c5</ActiveCollectionGuid><InactiveLibraries /><LibraryLayouts/></XmlCollectionSettings>

  3. Copy the GUID.
  4. Open the Management Console: Go to https://console.permissions.tekla.com/ or click the Share button in the Collections dialog.
  5. Search for the new collection.
  6. Change the access to Public.
  7. Make the collection visible to all users of a specific environment or role:

You need to decide if you want to have different collections for different roles. For example, you might not want steel users to have a collection that contains many cast unit drawing libraries. This would make navigation harder, and might also slow down the drawing creation unnecessarily. The system is file based, and works similarly to the localization of other features. The file location determines which roles have access to a collection.

    1. Create a file called FabDrawingLocalizedCollections.txt in a relevant subfolder in the environment, for example, the one defining a role, and open the file in a text editor.

NOTE: The first file with this name found in the paths defined in the role .ini files will be used by Tekla Structures to add a collection to the list of available ones in the dialog.

    2. Paste the GUIDs of all the relevant collections (copied from the FabCollectionSettings_<username>.xml file) to be shown to the user of that role in this file, one GUID per one line.

Empty lines and lines starting with the "#" character are ignored and considered as text comments (for example, to tell the name of the collection associated with each GUID).

    3. Save the file.

    Example of the file content:

    # Default Sample Collection

    38b72ad0-df40-4630-96d4-a94197d717c5

    # Example France cast-in-place

    2706c362-bc72-4b23-a707-25fc713d9b5b # plan de coffrage

    e2ff5584-5ae5-4582-a7bc-2457fc1f8acd # plan de ferraillage

    # Example France precast

    7f44198e-12b5-4a71-b4dc-8dea50d3da89

The above example file defines 4 collections. If the file is located, for example, under the steel detailer role's subfolders, the collections will only be seen and be available in the Collections list for users who have started Tekla Structures using the steel detailer role.
