Working with model filters

In large structures Solver Model Data views often contain a lot of data. You can reduce this for certain view types by applying a Model Filter.

Note: Model Filters are only available on the Analyze tab when the View Type is set to 1D Member Forces, or FE Slab Results by Panel, or FE Wall Results by Panel.

Add and apply a new filter

  1. Click Model Filter on the Analyze tab.
  2. Click Add filter... in the Filter dialog box.
  3. Click New
  4. Choose the required filter category from the list.
    The chosen filter name appears as a new row in the Filter dialog box with three adjacent buttons.
  5. To configure the filter, click on its name to see the items that are currently selected, then select/unselect individual items as required.
    You can also click to select all items, or to unselect all items.

If this is the only filter in the dialog box, the view is automatically filtered to display results for the filtering criteria.

If multiple filters are listed, you are given two options:

  • Match all rules - displays only those results that match all of the filtering criteria
  • Match any rule - displays results that match any of the filtering criteria
Note: When you add a new filter from the Analyze tab, it is also automatically made available as a report filter on the Report tab (provided it is a type suitable for reports).

Turn off a filter

Initially member force results are displayed for all members of all materials. If you want to display results for selected materials only, you can do so by setting up a materials filter as follows:

  1. Click Model Filter on the Analyze tab.
    All the filters that are currently applied are listed.
  2. Click next to the filter you want to turn off.
  3. Close the Filter dialog box.
Note: Clicking does not delete the filter, it just turns it off in the current solver model data view.

Turn on an existing filter

  1. Click Model Filter on the Analyze tab.
  2. Click Add filter... in the Filter dialog box.
  3. Click Saved Report Filter
  4. Choose the required filter category from the list.
    The chosen filter name appears as a new row in the Filter dialog box.
    Note: You can turn on existing filters that have been set up from the Report tab in addition to those set up from the Analyze tab.

If only one filter is listed in the dialog box, the view is automatically filtered to display results for the selected items in the filter.

If there are multiple filters listed, then how they are displayed depends on your choice at the bottom of the dialog box.

  • Match all rules - displays only those results that match all of the filters
  • Match any rule - displays results that match any of the filters

Rename a filter

While filters can be applied from both the Analyze tab and the Report tab, they can only be renamed from the Report tab.
  1. On the Report tab, in the Filters group, select the filter type.
    The existing filters of the chosen type are listed under Available filters.
  2. Select the filter to be renamed, and then enter the name required.
  3. Click OK
