Import field mapping

When you import files, the Import Field Map dialog opens when importing IFC files and if there are fields in an XML or Excel file that do not match with those in Tekla PowerFab.

The dialog allows you to configure how data in the import file is mapped into the standard data fields within Tekla PowerFab.

Import Type: Description of the import file source. You have Tekla PowerFab Standard Fields by default.

Object, Category: Definitions of the data in an IFC file. These columns are not displayed in a Production Control import by default.

Import Field: The field containing data in the file being imported

Example Data: The values in the field being imported

Tekla PowerFab Field: The field to which the value will import in Tekla PowerFab

Set Field Mapping: Button for setting the mapping

Manage import types

  1. Start a file import, see Import files to Tekla PowerFab.

    The Import Field Map dialog opens.

  2. Do one of the following.

    To Do this
    Create a new import type
    1. Click New.
    2. In Description, type a description for the new import type.
    3. Select the item to be mapped.
    4. In Tekla PowerFab Field, select the field to be mapped to.
    5. Click Set Field Mapping.
    Edit an import type
    1. Click Edit.
    2. Modify any properties.
    3. If you changed mapping, click Set Field Mapping.
    Delete an import type
    1. Click Delete.

      You are prompted to confirm the deletion.

    2. Click Yes.
  3. Click OK.

The import is completed.

You can also set regular expressions to data. Expressions are only enabled for time-tracking imports. See Regular expressions.
