Why I cannot add marks or tags for reinforcement dimensions?

Question:
Sometimes when I create a dimension line for reinforcement in a cast unit drawing using the “Create dimension line” function, the dimension line gets the ghost associativity anchor symbol and a question mark.

This means that the dimension line does not have valid association and I cannot add any tags or marks to this dimension line. Why does this happen?

Answer:
This usually happens in views which are created manually as section views, or when the view depth of the cast unit has been changed.

1. If you create the cast unit drawing so that the view in the drawing is created automatically, the view depth of the cast unit is determined so that the sum of Depth down and Depth up is bigger than the total overall dimensions of the cast unit.

For example, if there is a slab with thickness of 200 mm, the view Depth down and Depth up is 100.66 mm in the plan view of the slab. In this case, the total displayed depth of the slab is 201.32 mm, which is more than the thickness of the slab.

This means that the dimension lines are associated correctly with the reinforcement in the cast unit, because the reinforcement is in the view depth range of the cast unit.

2. If you manually create a view of the slab, or modifies the view depth, you have to make sure that the dimensioned reinforcement is also in the range of visible depth of the slab plan view. Visually, it is possible to display the reinforcement by increasing the extension for neighbor parts, but this does not fix the associativity issue.

For example, if you have created a plan view that looks like the automatically generated plan view of the slab, but the visibility of reinforcement is ensured adjusting the neighbor part properties, but not the view depth properties, the dimension line for the reinforcement will not be associated with the reinforcement, and therefore it will not be possible to add tags or marks.
