Question:
Why are some beams written as IFCMEMBER and not as IFCBEAM in the IFC export? The IFC entity attribute of beams is selected to be IfcBeam in the Tekla Structures model, but when you take a look inside the IFC file using, for example Notepad, the beams are IFCMEMBER. All these beams should be IFCBEAM.
Answer:
Beams which are sloped between 20 and 70 degrees are considered as braces and exported as IFCMEMBER by default.
Starting with Tekla Structures 2022, the IFC entity can be selected directly within the property pane.
