Why are my columns bigger than they are supposed to be on plan?
Question:
I have exported my GA to a DXF file, when I import that DXF file into another project to the same scale, my columns appear bigger than the imported drawings, why are my columns bigger?Answer:
By default in Tekla Structural Designer, there is a setting found in Home > Settings > Scene which doubles the size of the columns. This is a tick box which can be unticked before starting a new model if you wish to have the columns drawn to scale.
The setting is found in the Settings window under Scene > View Settings as shown below.
For current models, the setting is found in the Model Settings window under Graphic View Settings as shown below.
Note: You may need to redraw the view for the settings to take effect (right-click > Redraw)
There is also a drawing setting which affects the column sizes on drawings, this can be found in Draw > Settings, see Options > Planar Drawings > General Arrangement referring to column options as shown below.
