When I right click over a brace I do not get the option to check or design the brace, as I do for other elements. Why is this?

We suspect you are referring to braces that have been defined as a pair i.e. X, K, V or A bracing.
When you hover over braces that have been input as a pair both braces are highlighted as the screenshot below.
This means that when you right click, you are bringing up a context menu that relates to both elements. Certain options are only available for individual elements.

In order to review the check or design results (and other options) you need to ensure that only one individual brace is highlighted.
You can do this by using the Tab or Up/Down cursor keys to cycle through the available options shown in the Select Entity tool tip. The element selected will be highlighted in the view to aid your selection.

Once the item is highlighted, you can right click to bring up the context menu specific to the highlighted element.
Additional context menu options are then available that are specific to this individual element.
