Using stock items
In Tekla Structures, you have the option to use stock items (such as base plates or purlin stubs). This ensures that these parts receive the same number for every project. This is especially useful if you want to keep certain parts in stock.
We add a plate (thickness 10 mm) as a standard part:
Step-by-step plan
1. Create a model with a specific name, for example Std.
2. Model the part in this model without using components. Give the part a unique prefix:
3. You must model this part as follows to ensure that the part is always “recognized”:
4. Now go to File > Settings > Advanced options (shortcut Ctrl + E).
5. On the left-hand side, select the Numbering category and on the right-hand side click the row XS_STD_PART_MODEL.
6. In the Value column, enter the path of the standard model, for example C:\TeklaStructuresModels\Std.
7. Click OK to save the change and close the dialog box.
8. To apply this setting to all models, add the line XS_STD_PART_MODEL=C:\TeklaStructuresModels\Std to the options.ini file in the ts folder.
9. Go to Drawings & Reports > Numbering settings > Numbering settings. The following dialog box will appear:
10. Select the checkbox Check for standard parts, next click Apply and OK.
Tekla Structures will now check during numbering whether identical parts exist in the standard model. If so, Tekla Structures will adopt the number specified there.
