Tips for speeding up Organizer
To achieve better performance in Organizer you can do the following steps.
1. Delete the unnecessary properties from the property templates.
The main reason of Organizer performance issues typically is the slow loading of certain properties from the model.
As a rule of thumb:
- Remove from the property templates all the properties that you do not need
- Do not use the property MODEL_TOTAL in the property templates – it takes long time to load it
- The area projection properties have longest loading times
-
The properties calculating any kind of areas are also quite slow
2. Synchronize only one category or some categories if you do not actually need to refresh all of them.
3. Use the refresh button of Object Browser if you do not need to refresh the categories, but you want to see the latest property values in Object Browser.
4. Use object group filters to collect category content when it is necessary, but delete those categories using filters that you do not need.
Using the updated property templates
These instructions explain how to take the updated property template list into use:
- Create the property templates that contain the necessary properties
- Export these property templates
- Create the categories that you need
- Export these categories
- Close Organizer
- Open model folder > ProjectOrganizer folder
- Delete the ProjOrg0000xx.bak and ProjOrg0000xx.db files
- Open organizer, DO NOT synchronize at opening (it would load all the existing properties to the Organizer database, and later they would be always updated at full synchronization)
- Import one property template and set it to be the default one
- Delete all the other property templates
- Import the rest of the property templates
-
Import the categories – if the property template that was linked to a category does not exist, the default property template is linked to it automatically
